Ya, I don't think anyone has taken the time to register for it, as they will be allowed to just walk in. I don't think it will be too big of a turn out, but I know of some more guys that are going to do it. I would expect 15-20 bowlers to show up. Hopefully more. It's a 40 frame game tourney. Should be fun, I've never bowled a 40 frame game before.

I've never done it either but for the cost of entry it sounds worth it. Figure 40 frames is almost equal to 3 1/2 games (I'm assuming the tenth is treated as a normal frame thereby costing you two balls that frame). I personally feel that any and all tournaments are good practice. I prefer tournaments outside of my home center but it does get difficult to hear about them in time to make the proper arrangements.

I went to the alley today and saw Mike and Joyce up there bowling in their league. I was just throwing some practice games, and after Mike was done with league he came and bowled with me a little. We had a little competition to see who could win the best 2 out of 3. The first game he had a 234 and me only a 212. The second game I had a 264 and Mike a 202. So it was tied 1-1 and the third game went down to the wire! Mike had a 228 and me a 224! So he won the little make shift competition today, but I'll beat him on the big match-up Friday!

In all seriousness, we really seem to make each other bowl better when we're bowling with/against each other. I think we'd be a pretty damn good team if we ever get on the same team in a league together.

I don’t want people to say,, “sure, the old Ironworker is good for one game, but what if he had to bowl 3!” If you agree to the terms, the next game will be best series score… total pins, not who won what game. O sure I don’t mind posting the scores of each game, but the winner will be the one with the HIGH 3 game Series!!
I am now doing one arm push-ups 40 with each arm, running 4 miles every night, two miles backward, and two miles forward, the whole time with two bowling balls, being clenched, in each hand swinging them in a bowling motion! I do sit ups with my wallet on my chest, filled with money I have won!
I drink purified water, to cleans my soul, and purify my spirit! Jason,,,, don’t think this clash of Titans will be a simple one! You found that out TODAY!! I am hungry for victory, and nothing will stop me but death. (And at my age,,,, that’s a good possibility!)

Jason usually wears jeans and a tee shirt! Me I wear all black,,,,(my personality is colorful enough, to where its almost sensory overload it I wear anything else!! One funny thing I notice in the movie that I have been known to do with my New V.G. Nanno….. is lick it, ever so lightly with just the tip of my tongue… That Orange-mint smell is to much for me to resist!! I clean it off upon every return. Just between you and me Bill, I hope YOUNG Jason in his early twenties wins! Who am I? And old burnt out candle heading into the final round up! My only dream is to, (with my new spinner) create balls that are undefeatable!! Using my magic touch, talent, and ability to build things my whole life,,,,,,,build a arsenal of balls that one can truly call (Undefeatable)! Yes balls that can be thrown even by a 6 ½ year old, and beat young cocky overly confident better than average bowlers like Jason!
I will not have the spinner,,,, the spinner of victory till this weekend, or first part of next week! So I will have to use raw talent to beat him today! If Jason were to win today, it would still only be a TIE! It would be 3 to 3! For as you remember, The old retired new to bowling Iron Worker won 3 consecutive games in a role! So the best Young rising star Jason can achieve today is a tie! I do have something that was given me on fathers day from my middle son that should help me win my victory today!!
After I win the high series today! I will go into detail as to the gift given, and how it worked! Remember its total pins today,,,, high series,,, so one could win 2 of 3 games, and still lose! I have taken a class on Remote Viewing, (look it up on the internet if you care to know just what that is), so I was at Jasons house last night, watching him toss and turn,,,, even have panic attacks in regards to our meeting today!
He feels the power of the gift my son gave me on Father’s Day….. will that gift be enough to win today!!??,,, or will I need THE SPINNER and the genius I know I have in me, to manipulate my ball into a pin crushing device! We shall see…. (the magic that was given me,,,, or will I have to wait till life “spins” me even a better fate next week!

Well, I'm getting ready to head to the alley, in route to my next victory. Will post the results when I get home.

Well a good day of bowling!

First game I had a 236 and Mike had a 259!! We would have probably tied if it wasn't for me leaving a pocket 7-10 split in the 9th.

Second game, I had a 224, and Mike a 184. If I recall correctly, Mike had FIVE 10 pin leaves all balls that were right in the pocket.

Third game, I had a 210 and Mike a 194. I think I left another 7-10 split in this game.

So final series was 670 to 637, I won!

We bowled another practice game after that and I had a 226, Mike a 199.

Then we decided we'd have the very last championship game today as well. The one for everything! I believe I started with 5 straight strikes and left a ringing 10 pin in the 6th (which I picked up). Mike had started with a 9/ then had 4 straight strikes. Then I think he chopped a 6-10 and opened in the 6th. I threw a strike in the 7th, and I believe Mike did too. Then I threw TWO STRAIGHT 7-10 splits in frames 8 and 9. I couldn't believe it. Keep in mind, I have only left a 7-10 split TWICE in every league I've been in since January, and I left 4 today! So two more opens, and it looked like Mike would win as he had a spare in the 9th. So I ended up striking out for a 224. Mike had a strike on the first ball in the 10th, and just needed a strike and 2 pins to win. Then he left ANOTHER ringing 10 pin and picked it up. So I ended up winning 224-223. I am the first one to 5 wins, to his 3. CHAMPION!!

We will still continue to bowl on Fridays and have big match-ups against each other, however I don't think we'll be posting anymore as it seems interest has waned (with the exception of Bill). If anyone still wants us to continue posting scores of our fun, competitive match-ups, we will if you want us to. Anyway, if that is it for this thread, then it's been fun! Hope it was entertaining for everyone!

I am sorry all you older warriors out there,,, I am so upset that I cant write at the present time! To lose by one point the final game! It’s ,,,,,, its more then I can handle at the moment! How can one say he is the better man, with a margin of ONE PIN! (in the final game)! I need time to work this through my mind! I am so darn depressed I might have to get help! I guess,,,,,, I guess,,,, I am nothing but a loser….. sorry I let you guys in yours 60’s with arthritis, Ra, Lupus, broken necks, herniated disks, neuropathy in both feet, no disk from L5 down to tail bone, curvature of the spine, all these things I have, ,,, no I won’t lessen the win that young healthy Jason had! That would be a cheap shot!
I am not that kind of broken down warrior! That last game in the 10th all I needed was a second strike in the 10th… and what do I get a 9 er! (which I pick up and lose by 1 pin!
I need to reflect on this lose,,,, time off,,, travel,,, but I don’t have the money to travel now! Jason won all I have! I actually went down to the soup kitchen this evening for some warm soup and crakers! The only way this broke warrior will see Europe, or travel is reading books, and looking at the pictures!

Mike, Lose the loser talk! You were beaten in one best of nine series of matches. Brian Voss, one of the best pros of all time, has won 25 national titles and lost more than 500 times. Similar things could be said of all the veterans on the tour.
None of them walk around saying "I'm a loser". They just set their sights on winning the next game, match, or tournament, making one good shot at a time. In case you've forgotten, you still have those goals of a 300 game and 800 series.

Yeah, Walter Ray has almost 50 titles but how many attempts? Sports people know that a baseball player bats .300 and is considered successful. That's a 70% failure rate. I bet bowling the failure rate is even higher! Success if determined by real men and women by wins and losses but rather in how we handle those wins and losses.

Wow,,, I know its only been a short time since all the transplants…… ( A FEW HOURS) , but…. I FEEL like a NEW MAN!! I know the failing organs, had a lot to do with my defeat to the hands of Jason.

Ok,,,, I did it!! I have been having problems with my two power house balls! I changed the pitch to reverse on my Undefeated, and had the new V.G.Gravity nanno drilled in reverse also! WRONG!!! BAD IDEA!! I thought it would give me more rev’s, but not the case, It not only just about destroyed my Thumb, (blisters on the back and inside), it also hurt my accuracy! Had Trent plug and redrill both!
He came down to lane 42, and 43, gave me the V.G. Nanno first and I bowled a 254! It felt great, and guess what?? I didn’t need to put a turn-a-cut on the base of my thumb! He then said that there was a problem with the Undefeated,,, MY REAL SOWARD of honor!! And that he could replug it, or put a slug in the bad hole. I went with the slug. He brought it down to where I was waiting like a father, in a waiting room,,,,, waiting to find out If it’s a boy or girl,,,, ect ,,ect.. my palms were sweating,,, he said something about a crack…. “What you cracked my UNDEFEATED???.... then after what seemed to be and eternity he placed it in my hands, said give it a try…. It felt very snug on the thumb, I thought that it could have been swelling due to the operation!! I bowled a 212 with it.


So now Iam ready for league bowling Tuesday Night! Bunch of TOP Guns, $1000.00 14 week league…. (way out of my class), but I thought it would be fun bowling with them.
I started out with the V.G. Nanno…. Had a 213 with it… several VERY NICE BEAUTIFUL in the pocket 10 pin leaves at critical times! I was very happy with how it rattled the pins, just off somewhere…..
I pulled out the Undefeated!!

I bowled a 232, then a 231,,,, could have been better but did leave a few 10 pins,, but not many! Ball started to hang up on my thumb some into the 4 game. And in the 10 frame working on a spare in the 9, the ball hung up like I have never seen in my life,,, it went straight for the lights, I think it actually hit the ceiling, an it twisted me around, and almost re-broke-my-neck!! (broke it back in 1992, Iron working accident fell!
I have never NEVER had a ball stick like that!! My thumb didn’t look like it had swelling that could have caused it to stick? I am going to have Trent take a look at it tomorrow. The Undefeated would have given me a possible 224 game again if I would have striked out in the tenth,,, and It was working good enough to do just that…. As it turns out I had a spare in the 9th, then had the ball hit the ceiling, I changed balls, after pulling my neck and right arm back into place, (with the help of my wife). Pulled out the V.G. Nanno and threw on my second shot a solid 10 pin leave. Wound up with a 184!! Lost the advandage of the spare in the 9th, and then had the accident with the ball sticking on the thumb. When we got home my wife said: ( Honey stand up against the wall, (which I did, I was getting ready for some kinky,,,,, (then she said put your arms down to your side,,,,,, ( I said do you want me to wear a blind fold), she then took a picture of me with our digital camera and put it on the monitor! My right arm now is 3 inches longer then my left!! The only way I know to correct the situation is to go to the bowing alley tomorrow with Jason, grab the ball with my left hand, while holding the ball have Jason drive some wood wedges into and around the thumb hole,,,, line up and swing the Hel@!! , out of the ball! After I awake form the pain of equalization of non bowling arm I should look normal again!
I did learn a lesson! Reverse pitch did not give (me) more revs. In fact I am getting more now with out! I almost had my league 700 series, 212 232 231= 675


I really like the way the balls work now that I corrected the pitch!
I now feel ready to take JASON on again!! (( I must admit, Jason is bowling extremely well))!
I feel like I should be given ONE MORE CHANCE to redeem myself! Now that I have the Pitch taken care of, so here’s my PITCH!!! Jason, I am a born again bowler!! The Pitch was a HUGE MISTAKE,,, LET

As it turns out I had a spare in the 9th, then had the ball hit the ceiling, I changed balls, after pulling my neck and right arm back into place, (with the help of my wife). Pulled out the V.G. Nanno and threw on my second shot a solid 10 pin leave. Wound up with a 184!! Lost the advandage of the spare in the 9th, and then had the accident with the ball sticking on the thumb. When we got home my wife said: ( Honey stand up against the wall, (which I did, I was getting ready for some kinky,,,,, (then she said put your arms down to your side,,,,,, ( I said do you want me to wear a blind fold), she then took a picture of me with our digital camera and put it on the monitor! My right arm now is 3 inches longer then my left!! The only way I know to correct the situation is to go to the bowing alley tomorrow with Jason, grab the ball with my left hand, while holding the ball have Jason drive some wood wedges into and around the thumb hole,,,, line up and swing the Hel@!! , out of the ball! After I awake form the pain of equalization of non bowling arm I should look normal again!
I did learn a lesson! Reverse pitch did not give (me) more revs. In fact I am getting more now with out! I almost had my league 700 series, 212 232 231= 675


I really like the way the balls work now that I corrected the pitch!
I now feel ready to take JASON on again!! (( I must admit, Jason is bowling extremely well))!

Secondly, I'd like to say that I laughed my a$$ off reading through that whole thing! Thanks for the laughs! I'm glad you can joke about it, because it sure looked bad! I hope your neck is alright. Let me say, that Mike may be exaggerating a little when he says it hit the ceiling, but I can confirm that it was AT LEAST 7 feet off the ground. All I could see was the ball floating in the air (It did have nice revs on it! LOL), then it plunked right in the gutter... My first reaction -- "HOLY SH!T" as my teammate said "WHAT?" and turned around.

I've seen Mike have the ball stay on his thumb a little longer before because it sticking, but nothing like that. Like I say, I'm glad you didn't get seriously injured. Good bowling tonight!

By the way, I'm starting to believe June is MY month.. As you know, I keep track of all my bowling in leagues in tournaments for each month, here is my average from each month since I started bowling in leagues again in January...

January - 21 Games - 205.3 AVG
February - 33 Games - 194.5 AVG
March - 44 Games - 207.2 AVG
April - 39 Games - 205.1 AVG
May - 28 Games - 205.4
June - 30 Games - 221.0 AVG!!!

Unless I sub for a league, that'll close the book on June. 221! I hope that is a sign of things to come.

LoL,,, not Bam-Bam, but Fred himself! I swear, it look to me like I hit the ceiling…..even thought I saw particles coming down from the collision! One result of the ball accident yesterday is that I can now turn my neck 360 degree’s! I can now see myself coming and going!! Just not at the same time!

I went to practice tonight and bowled with my NeXXus f(P+R) all night... I had a 235, 235, 193, 248, 226, 233, and 288! I blew another 300! I had the first 10 strikes, just needed two more, and I threw what I thought was a good ball (hit my mark), and it just never really came around. Hit really low in the pocket and left the 4,8 (picked that up for the 288).

I'm happy though, because the more I get into that situation, the more comfortable and calm I will be when I get there, and the 300's will start coming.

Honestly, I'm not even sure. I kept telling him I was thinking a 70 degree pin to PAP angle, and a 30 degree VAL angle and I explained that it should provide a lot of length and back end which is what I want. He just said ya, that sounds ok. Then he was explaining how he is gonna put the pin under and ask a 2nd opinion on how to drill it (In regards to pin up or pin down) to get me a lot of back-end. I was telling him, I thought pin under would make it roll sooner and get a big arching hook rather than back-end, but he showed me the photo for the layouts saying that pin under for this ball would give me more back-end.

So I don't really know what he is going to do, this is a brand new guy that is going to drill it. He's taken all the necessary classes to be educated on drilling, so I trust him. I just hope I get the reaction I want when I pick it up tomorrow. I'll be sure to ask him what angles he drilled it at.

I hope he goes pin up. According to this, it seems that would give me more back-end.

I am taking my ball down to Trent to have it fixed. I am thinking about putting powder on my thumb, then putting it into the ball and then looking at where the powder leaves a mark. Is there a better way to try to find out where the hang up is located? I don’t want a lose hole,,, nobody does, It feels so much better being snug. It gave me some great games up until the dang thing started hanging up on the thumb! Then when it locked, that ball took me a few inches off the ground!!

Ha! You weren't there. If you think I'm lying, I have witnesses! Just ask the pro shop guy, he bowled with me tonight. I had a hell of a practice session. That was the first time I've thrown the NeXXus in a couple weeks. In case you're wondering, it was getting lonely in the bag. I think it may be scared of the dark, because every time I take it out of the bag, it does its best to put on a great performance so I don't leave it in there too long for next time. It's sleeping now, safe in sound in the bag. I don't know how to break the news to it that I may not be using it for a while once I get this new ball tomorrow, it might fall into a state of depression.

Last week I corrected that MISTAKE, and now the King Pin, is ready for what ever Jason can dish out! I bowled a 254, with the new pitch FIRST GAME after having it handed to me by the driller!!

You were correct! Her Manic Ball came in today! So when she got off work she went straight to the alley! That ball was remarkable the way it snapped into the pocket. I hope you post the scores, I don’t know how to reduce the file yet. Her average for 5 games was 176! Not bad for a Cyclone average of 142. It took the 1 game to get it to release the thumb! She pulled a Mike and almost went down the lane with the ball,,, it didn’t come off her thumb!! As I mentioned she just about had a bad accident, and on top of that she couldn’t get her hands out of the ball!! I thought she was going to have a PANIC ATTACK! Trent worked it out in the thumb department! Then she rolled a 170, 219, 157, 161, and last game 177. Her average 176! If Jason posts her scores for me, you will notice many solid 10 pin leaves that could have been strikes! This was a great choice of ball that Trent recommended!!
Joyce is a very happy camper, needless to say!! Her average was 140, to 150 so way over with new ball!

Well the ball did well again today. I had a 266 and 268, and a couple 230's and 220's and some low 200's.

Mike beat me in the series!! The first game Mike had a FANTASTIC 279! Hit the pocket every time, just left a ringing 10 in the 7th.

The next game I beat Mike, but he beat me again in the third game with a 223 and I had a low 200 game. He was also bowling well today, several 200 games and that 279! Glad to see his arm/neck was alright after launching the ball at the ceiling a couple times in the past couple days.

I got robbed quite a few times.. and I'm not just talking about ringing 10's, I'm talking about STONE 8 or 9 pin right, flush in the pocket, like Randy Pederson did against Ernie Schlegel. Mike even left some too.. Not sure if the rack was off or what, it was strange. I know it happens sometimes, but not as often as it did today. I did pick up three nice splits today. 3,4,6,7 twice, the 3,6,7 once.

Also, I was slipping and sticking on the approach today. One time I'd stick, the next time, I'd slip. I didn't get it. Then during my last game (the 268), I slipped and fell right on my knee/wrist (Knee is fine, wrist is a little sore, It'll be fine though). I knew it was gonna happen sooner or later today. Finally I examined my shoe a little more and noticed a little fuzzy thing that was stuck to the heel of my sliding foot. I'm thinking that may have been the problem all day. I had to use my wired brush to get it off. Looked like a piece of lint or something.

Anyway, it was a good day. There is a doubles tournament next weekend I'm trying to get Mike to do with me. I know we'd do very well. We're gonna go check out the lanes and practice a couple games there on Monday (never been there before).

We're all tied up at 5-5 now.

One time I thought I might have to call for and ambulance!! He went down all the way hit his wrist,,,(bowling wrist), on the floor)!! (((((((but he got a strike!!!!))))) its amazing!! Funny you say that Dude! What kind of a wheelchair is this person in!!! That’s what the doctor told my wife and me! That was before they knew that I had RA! And when they found that out, they gave me 3 years, before I would be in a wheelchair! (that was 7 years ago)!
Guess what! Doctors are not gods, like YOU and me Dude! I have defied the odds, and don’t even have to take any pain medication! The body can do remarkable things if you give it what it needs!

The other day when that ball stuck to my thumb and pulled me almost to the ceiling, no pain or after effects. Then it happened again the next day after Trent worked on it, again painful at the time, but I kept on bowling, and no after effect to speak of even today! (Other than I now drag my knuckle of my right hand on the ground when walking! Now that it’s about 5 inches longer then my left arm, I seem to get a lot more velocity, lift, and hook in the back end!

Yes the other day when the Dude and I bowled,,,, 11 strikes,,,,, in one game with a 10 pin leave!! One frame from perfect again!! It Iced the Dude,,, for a moment,,,, but being the Dude he came back in the second game and warmed Iceman up!! I actually felt beads of sweat coming forth from my forehead!! I then turned down the thermostat, and WON the Third Game!

Ok Dude, (Jason),,,, Your wing man and his copilot did their job this evening! We knocked off The Top Guns in the $1000.00 14 week summer league! We now have our F-14 bowling bags loaded with devastating weaponry! We can hit the enemy with a smorgasbord of lethal bowling balls!!
We will with our new spinner, be tough to take down!! I am getting better and better at knowing when to change balls, and go to a different cover stock, with a different finish! Today I had a good ball but 3 in a role 10 pin leaves,,,, moved up one step with my number two Undefeated with a higher grit, and it solved the problem! My main problem is Focus, Focus!!… its hitting MY MARK!! Lack of Focus! I will get that 300….. and that first league 700 series soon! 673 today,,, wish I could have used my forth game and would have make it.. 226. Would have had a 713!
I bowled the last few frames with the damaged ball. It gave me a in pocket 10 pin leave,,, which that ball was not doing until the damage. It was in the track area all agreed.. I thought about not throwing it after the 10 pin leave in the 10 frame of the final game for total pins,,,,, but decided to just for the hell of it, ( you could hear its pain as it rolled to the pocket, almost a wimpering sound,,,,,,, STRIKE!! That damn ball ,,,,, what can I say,,,, I LOVE IT!! The UNDEFEATED!

Dude had a bad afternoon, at NKC! Just one of those things, so I said, lets wait till next week! It’s the worse I have ever seen him bowl against me! He did have a couple nice games, but was not his afternoon to be bowling Iceman!

floated from my bag to your right hand!

The finger and thumb hole changed, as did the span right before our eyes! Right under where The Bold Large Writing that says, UNDEFEATED is located on the ball, there was some small writing! So small that not even a Seeing Eye dog could read it!!
I pulled out the magnifying glass that I always carry in my left back pocket, and put it over the extremely small writing under the large UNDEFEATED writing, it said:

I think it's a couple things. First off, I'm not hitting my mark consistently. Secondly, I think I'm not thinking the shot through correctly before I shoot it -- meaning, sometimes I think if I play a certain line, and hit a certain mark, it doesn't play out how I thought it would and it goes high or to the right and I leave a split. I left 12 splits today. For singles, I shot 153,222,197. For doubles, 197, 174, 160. I'm not going to blame anything on the lanes. I accept all fault for how badly I bowled. I know some people may say, It's an alley you've never bowled at, approaches are different, and don't mention how annoying the above ground ball return was -- but no, I'm not going to say any of that. I thought the shot was OK, and the ball return didn't really bother me as much as I thought it would. In fact, I think I played better on that lane. I'm kinda thinking this -- Maybe I was more accurate on the lane where the ball return was in the way of my follow through (leg kick), because I had to focus more, and when I got to the lane where it wasn't in the way, I sort of relaxed a little.

After I got home from the tourney, I went to another alley and practiced hitting my mark, watching my ball go over it, and watching it crush the pins. I haven't really shot well all week. I bowled 7 games of practice this evening and started poorly again (more of missing my mark, and leaving some splits) 203, 165, 197 to start... then shot 234 (Open in 10th, off another split), 208 (all clean game at least), 235 (all clean), 234 (one open). I think HOPEFULLY I may have made some progress and feel pretty confident about tomorrow. We shall see. I'm feeling good though.

Jason, my targeting has been off most of the week. I recorded a session today and noticed my upper body was too far forward, bending too much at the waist. It didn't feel like I was doing this but the video doesn't lie. Moral of this rant; record yourself and compare to a previous recording where you're bowling well.

I was there!!! Who else matters!! There wasn’t that many bowlers it s 16 lane alley, and maybe 12 were used??! I met a guy 58, that almost bowled a 300 game, says he has 37, and his average is 229! He had all white hair and looked even older then me. We became friends had a lot in common, he invited me to an August tournament that was for men and women over 50, with a 500.00 prize for first place. He was recently inducted into the Mo. Bowling Hall of Fame. With his average, and large number of 300 games,,,, daaaaaaaa I wonder why?? Lol
I am going to bowl in that tournament!!! My average has been steadily moving up, with that 900 series last Tuesday, (225) average for 4 games,,, and a good week, two weeks ago same league, 222 average for 4 games, I feel that Jason and me might be teaming up in the near future. I finally have the equipment, I think I need, and the knowledge is getting better and better thanks in part to this Wonderful Knowledge Filled web site! ( what ball are you giving away this week LOL)
Jason had a bad day,,,, a couple lanes up a good 220 bowler had a 300! The eight guys bowling with Jason,,, all were doing poorly, other than the 58 year old that was, blowing the pins out!!

Then in the final 3 games, and 3 pitchers of beer later the older gentleman had a bad final game in his series of final 3! I still think he could have been one of the top bowlers there… who knows who won after handicap is figured in.

Dude is good enought to beat ANY of THEM, if he gets his head screwed on right, and decides he wants it bad enough!!! HE IS GOOD ENOUGH!! (Just not this Day) (:(

Dude/Jason will bounce back, and hopefully the guys on his team that are all excellent bowlers will have great day tomorrow!

THE DUDE IS BACK!

225, 257, 239 (721 series) today using my Vivid. If I had bowled that yesterday in singles, I'd have got first. I'm kicking myself for not using the Vivid yesterday. I think my practice session last night helped a lot too.

We got 4th place and they only paid the top 3! One of our teammates who averages 215 or so, had a 136 his first game! 4 or 5 splits, two pocket 7-10 splits. He finished with a 230 and 278. If he'd have done something even close to that his first game, we'd have got first. I'm not BLAMING him though, absolutely not. We all have bad days, and bad games. You saw how I did yesterday!

I joined 4 brackets today though, and won one and got 2nd in another. So I did get a little money back. I'm just happy to have redeemed myself today, and I'm ready to start another hot streak.

Well, I went up to practice with Mike and his wife tonight... (Yeah I know, I bowl all the time! 40 games in the last 4 days) and I used the DV8 Too Reckless the whole time, just trying to get used to it.. Boy was I ever on FIRE. Scores were 200, 231, 220, 215, 266, 237, 270, 257 (237 AVG) I even had 16 strikes in a row at one point! Closed out the 270 game with 9 straight, started the 257 with 7 straight. Mike was ALSO on fire. He shot another 279. That's his third in the last week and a half I believe. Also shot 240's and 230's as well. He even had 12 strikes in a row at one point! He is really becoming a good bowler now. I know how much he likes those new VISE IT grips.

I know it's only one day, but I think I'm out of my week long slump now.

The 3 Amigo’s!!! It will be interesting to see if Jason, and myself can carry on what has been happening this last two weeks.
League Tuesday is a Bunch of Top Gun bowlers,,, 220 ‘s and up! I had a great series last week, 900, 225 average, and on that league my average was 196, so I think I will be close to 200 starting this Tuesday!
WE beat the team that was in first place 3 out of 5! Just Iceman, and Cup-Cake!!!
That helped Jason/Dude’s team to be in a tie for first now!!
The ball spinner, and twist grips, has make a HUGE DIFFERENCE in all aspects of the game. I think Jason is thinking about getting a spinner for himself! I think as has arsenal grows, ,,,, it’s not a bad idea!!
I know mine has been a very important part of my average going in the right direction! I hope to have a 220 by the end of this league!! ((((but would settle for a 215, since time is running out!

First, I'm glad to hear you had a good day bowling. Second, what ball did you use yesterday if not the tried and true Vivid? Maybe part of yesterday was the wrong condition for the ball?

Yesterday I started with the Too Reckless... Wasn't working too well. Then went to the NeXXus.. It wasn't too bad... had a good line to the pocket, but wanted something that would hopefully make me do even better. So I took out Jeff's ball, the Virtual Energy.. BAD IDEA. I had some good shots with it, but the line was just too tight. So I went back to the NeXXus for the rest of the day. In hindsight, I obviously should have used the Vivid. Days like this give me more trust in that ball. It'll be the first out of the bag for the next tournament now.

I enjoy the competition between you two. So much in fact that I have an ex-girlfriend whose son is on the high school bowling team. We are going to start practicing together. He doesn't like bowling with his mother, she bowl straight and averages 180. His dad is a very good bowler but has trouble teaching the young man alternate styles. We are hoping I can teach him more and he can give me a reason to practice even harder. The best and strangest part is, my wife is alright with this as long as I'm not bowling with the woman I was dating before I married her lol. Another great night of league... Bowled a 268, 212, 246 (726 series), and a 244 for a 970 four game series and I raised my average to 220 all with the Too Reckless! I set a goal for myself before I joined the league to average in the 210-217 range, and with 6 weeks left, I'm at 220!

I'm red hot again, and just like Bill said, I'm gonna turn the Iceman, into The Puddle this Friday.

This is true! I have NEVER seen a bowler so FOCUSED as the Dude!! When he trips, or even falls down to his hands, ((((its always a STRIKE!))) I have never seen anything like it!! EVERY TIME!

So here's the deal... After I bowled my 300, we decided that the best two of three would make it more interesting since It would be extremely difficult for Mike to come back in the series total...

I'm a little disappointed I went from a 300 to a 198, but the lanes broke down a little and I didn't feel like switching my ball even though I went through the nose a couple times... At least I had a clean game though. ONE PIN!!

I bowled a 287 today too, a little later! I was doing very well. Hopefully, I'll shoot a 300 in league soon. Mike did well today too! I KNOW he is gonna get that 300 soon! ITS GOING TO HAPPEN!

Further on when we were bowling, I left a 2,10 split and told Mike if I picked it up, he would be banned from bold for 3 days! and wouldn't you know it, I picked it up! What an awesome moment.. You should have seen how crushed he was.

Later though, he said if he beats me in this particular game, he no longer is banned for 3 days, but if he loses, he gets 1 more day added... (Might I add he said this after I already had two opens in the first two frames!! LOL ;))

Thanks Ursus!!! Knowing you were backing ICEMAN, and Undefeated helped!!! When he beat me the first game, I said to myself,,,, COOOOL it!! (iceman get it)lol..... Its just one GREAT Game by the dude, hang in there for bold print, and large letters!! ]Number one: Last week when the Dude, (just before his big tournament, had a BAD FRIDAY, and his scores not even up to what he is capable of,,,,,,, ((I said, rather than have the contest this Friday, I will not claim victory, and we will skip this week))!!! I am not going to even put the scores down out of friendship, for the Dude! Everyone has BAD days! Just like some REALLY Great days!
So I gave some slack and decided not to post scores,,, and did not get the victories Ice man would have had! As I did not want him going into the tournament with any thoughts of loss in his mind! He did well in the tournament, I was there! So maybe in some small way the (letting the loss go THAT FRIDAY was a good and honorable thing!

The Dude has a very honorable, honest, fair nature about him, one of the things I admire about him as a young man! So in his glory of winning and bowling the first game he decided to make it a more fair and competitive game,,,,, (((MISTAKE!!!,,, I will never bowl a 300 game, but ONE THING this old broken down Iron Worker is,,,, is a fighter!))) Regardless as to if you think it was fair that we changed the format of our game, ((Like I did last week, out of kindness when the dude was down)), We many times make, (((as we did yesterday, side bets))) and in the end, whoever wins ,,,, Wins!!
Jason had something I doubt many get in their bowling years,,,, and I think he said he had two 300 games in high school! He is the better bowler, and I know that! Hmmm... not once did I say it was a "HUGE deficit" or did I call it an "unfair deficit".. Not once! What I called it was a "deficit". Which is entirely accurate. I had two open frames, you had one open frame with a STRIKE. I would call that a deficit to overcome. Seeing as how I lost by only 12 pins, it's pretty clear and evident that the STRIKE WAS the difference in the match.

FURTHERMORE, I said "I understood when I accepted the challenge that I already had two open frames to start the game..." and later "You won fair and square" (I even typed it in bold for you this time). So I'm not sure why you are getting bent out of shape.. I don't really care.. It's all in good fun to me... You beat me! I said that. I'm not crying foul, or saying you won unfairly. This reminds me of the time I saw a pair of boxer shorts with the Burger King logo on them and big print across the front that said "Home of the Whopper". I asked my wife if I should get some and she said, "Do they have any from White Castle?" (And by the way I know there are no White Castles in Georgia, We have the same concept called 'Krysta'l but I figured more people on the boards were familiar with White Castle. True story however, only the resturant name was changed to protect the innocent)

What a frustratingly great night of bowling I had tonight in the doubles league me and Mike participate in.... I blew a 300 game AND an 800 series the following game... The 2nd game tonight I had the first 10, and I threw what I thought was a good ball off the hand for the 11th, and it just never came around! Hit really low in the pocket and left an ugly 2,8,10 split. Like I say, I didn't even choke, I felt comfortable and threw what I thought was a good ball. (Also, nearly shot a 300 practicing before league started.. Every ball was perfect, left a stone FLUSH 9 pin in the 8th frame and shot 279). Then the next game I just needed 1 more strike in the 10th frame (after having got one already) for an 800 series... then I just threw it bad... Came off my hand wrong and didn't have enough revs and it hit low in the pocket and left the 2,8. So I ended up shooting a freaking 796!! SO FRUSTRATED!!! So tonight I shot 256, 285, 255 (796), and 222 (1018).

This was the week we were going against the other first place team.. A couple 230 avg bowlers in this league. So after the first two, we were killing them.. My teammate had a 256, 255 the first two and we were leading by 85 pins. Then my teammate came back down near his avg the next games while the other guys started getting it going (Even though they were both already shooting very high the first two games). So we ended up losing the next two games AND we lost total by 16 pins. So we lost 3 out of 5 possible points tonight and now we're one game back out of first. One of the guys we bowled against shot 831 with his last 3 games. 5 weeks left though, we'll get back in first soon.

Mike and his wife won 4 out of 5 and the Iceman was carried by his wife tonight! She shot a 215 her first game! I think she averaged 174 for the night! We need Iceman and his wife to put a hurtin' on the first place team again like they did a couple weeks ago.. Iceman is the dragon slayer! We play Mike and his wife next week, should be fun.


Anyway, that's the recap tonight... Very frustrated and happy at the same time... It's going to be bugging me for awhile... I really want an 800 and a sanctioned 300. As good as I'm bowling though, I don't think it will be long. (Hope not).

HIGHLITE of the afternoon was going down to NKC AMF, and trying out part of my secret weapon that I will be using This Friday!! They said go to lanes 9 and 10, and that it had not been bowled on since it was oiled! No pins, down on lanes, so that’s a good indicator that it was still not used!

I bowled the first game, and WHAT?? 158….. I thought what is going on!!! Changed balls several several times. Bowled 181 the next game! Nothing was working the way it normally did! Ball had good rev’s but not moving into the pocket, even when I laded it down soft, and low ball speed… OIL,,,, in the outer area down past the 34 foot area…. I then changed my delivery to a more direct approach, third arrow, while standing between first and second dot! Two spares,,, and then 9 strikes, and a spare! Had a 274!
The lane mechanic came down and the woman that works the office at the lanes and said that was the BEST SCORE bowled on that pattern, and in that league Sports pattern, the best was a 240!

It was Kagel oil machine (new one that sprays the pattern perfect, (so they say)! I was not told that it was a Sports Pattern, they were playing with me…. HONEST to god, the fist game I threw two gutter balls! I was sure that the machine that laid the pattern down was broken!! Wow does it freak you out when you think your bowling a simple house pattern and then for the FIRST TIME IN YOUR BOWLING carrier you come up against a SPORTS PATTERN I kept adjusting until I broke the code, and it worked the third game!
They said I should frame it,,, ( the 274), that it was called ( Turnpike)!!

I noticed next to me a guy that is a 220 bowler, almost went to Vegas this last year in the 200 average bracket. (he lost out by a few pins)!! He was struggling too… 142 160 ect… I thought what is going on,,, I know he is a much better bowler then that!!
After that experience, I joined a sports league coming up this fall with the Dude/Jason! I think it will be a huge learning experience for both of us! Wow… 274 on the turnpike,,, it’s a wonder I didn’t get a ticket!!! LOL

One cool thing also, TRENT, the pro that drilled all my balls, was giving lessons on the other lane next to me! So he seen the 274, on the Turnpike!!! What a experience!!! Better then 3 Dr Pepper’s!!

Now i NEED TO GO LOOK AT WHAT A KEGEL TURNPIKE IS!! (:)

Wow that is pretty direct delivery. Personally I played the Turnpike straight up 10 but your 274 beat whatever I had on that pattern (it was weeks ago lol)

Bowling on a sport pattern is humbling but does help tremendously. You learn how to read your ball reaction, how to adjust and how to target better. When you bowl in the sport league take a note pad and take notes. They will helo you tremendously next time you bowl that pattern as it will give you a clue where to start from.

You have NO IDEA Bill how hard I had to work, (thinking I was on a house pattern) to make it work!! I do write notes on my balls,,, I know that sounds weird, but I am talking about my bowling balls! Each time I take them to the spinner, I keep records as to what surface, ect,, ect,,, and that way I have a good understanding of what I might need in one of many different situations I might come across!...

It makes sense to do it on the sport patterns,,,, I just didn't know it was one!! They love to jack with me at the lanes!!! AND BELIEVE me it just about drove me crazy,,, finding the way into the pocket and then doing it from the 2 frame all the way into the ten frame,,,, two spares picked up then 9 strikes, and a 8 I beleive. I will get them!!! BELIEVE ME!! Don't jack with a burnt out vet!!! LOL.... (:)

Wow Mike, that's pretty impressive. Our pro shop guy here has been putting out Kegel WTBA patterns every wednesday over the summer, and it's a whole new ballgame compared to THS. I haven't shot anywhere close to a 274 on any of the patterns :)

Not yet!!! But whatever Big Bertha wants!!!!! Bertha gets!!!! She has been eyeing me with that evil left eye, ( she lost her right eye in a bit#h fight!) Its funny,,,, as I set in my cell of 8 women, I am drawn to Big Bertha,,,, I can easily overlook the nose, and cavity where her right eye use to be. I can even over look that fact that her Arms 2 ½ the size of mine,,, I can even overlook the pigeon toed bowed legs. The fungus on the bottom left side of her lip,,, is not bad, when she applies Rube Red lipstick!! What I can’t seem to overlook is her poor use of the English Language!

Bear,,,, I can't bear the thought that you think I have Ice water running through my veins!!! I care for The Dude very much!! Once in a while its good to bring a rising star down to earth!! He is ONE HELL of a bowler,,,, ((JUST NOT AT THAT MOMENT IN TIME))! In reality we were trying out a lot of NEW bowling techiniques,,, wow did I have some games that would turn you veins Ice Blue! The Dude was working on certain parts of his game also.... then when we had the bowl off,,,,, most of the oil was gone, (((huge disadvantage for the Dude's style of bowling)))..... so in a way,,,,, I was lucky that we didn't have our big games early on!!! To be fair to The Dude,,, we should have the Bowling Ball Game after our first warm up game!

Next week for the bowling ball, and let the oil burn!!!! lol

OOOOOOOO,,,, yes, the Dude can beat iceman!!! He does it quit regularly! The Dude made me laugh several times Friday, when), being a slider sometimes his shoe will stick, ( I problem I don’t have since my shoes are tennis shoes! He again has such focus that he striked all but once! Iceman is not, and will not ever be that bowler The Dude is!!!!! I am too old, have to many injuries, and on top of that RA, and some say Lupus! But if there is one thing this old warrior is,,,,,,, it’s a fighter! I don’t give up easy! Doctors said I would be in a wheel chair 6 years ago!! That’s a challenge for me!! Guess what!! Iceman is bowling with a future PBA bowler, and on occasion, I do ok!!
One thing I want to make clear!! The Dude is the better bowler!!! That’s a Fact!! But like I have said before,,,,,, Every Old Dog has His Day!!! Lol….. LOL… ()

A grandma sitting in the benches just behind us knitting, would break out in Song singing Give me that Old Time Religion,while working on grandpa’s bib overalls, one time it was bring in the sheep!! I know where I would have liked to bring them!!! It was the Beverly Hillbillies in person!
I mean Jason and me were on a role!!!!!! Then with all the distractions, a 198!! Jason has a 223 last game! Had several other good games before the Family From The Corn, moved in! We made that our last game! They were just to Corny for us to handle!!!

Believe ME, it’s a Happened!! When we left the AMF, I kept looking for a old 1930’s model truck with some rocking chairs mounted in the bed for Grandma!! When grandma would (( out of nowhere, in the middle of an approach, start singing, in an old soprano, quivering voice,,, Shall WE Gather At The River,,,, I,,,,,,, I didn’t know if I should bowl, or stop and bow my head!!! Then there were the ones , ( I would say in their 30, and 40s hollering out,,,, (again while bowling but at their own people), MISS,,,, MISS,,, THROW a GUTTER BALL,,,,, and many times just a yell, that sounded like a coon dog from HELL!!
Kids, running around, playing tag! It was indeed a test of concentration!! And this is just 1/5 of the story!! Come to think of it, The Dude and Iceman could have used a 5th!!!
It was CRRRRRAAAAAAZZZZZY!! We actually found it funny! I kept thinking that a camera was hidden somewhere, and any minute, a clown would jump out of the ball return
and say: SMILE,,, YOUR on Candid Camera!

Since Manic got her new ball, she has been a force to reckon with! Last Tuesday we played a team that was ahead of us, and beat them 4 out of 5! Week before that we won 3 of 5, and the week before that another 3 of 5,,, this has all be happening since Manic, got her MANIC BALL If Ice man is on, and Manic’s new ball is kicking butt,,,, it will be a Rumble in the Jungle!!!!!!!!!! Wow,,,,, Dude do you know how hard this is going to be on Manic, and Iceman!! Bowling you, knowing your just 1 game out of first!!! We don’t like the evil team that’s in first place for several reasons! Other than likeing ourselves the most, you are our second choice! Manic and I almost feel like staying home, and letting the chips fall where they may! If it were not for the huge cash prize, we could care less! But the way the First Place team brings in top guns at points, ((LIKE LAST WEEK)), when you played each other. Their 210 bowler seems to not make it for the big games, and they bring in BowlZilla,,, the guy with the 230 average!!
This is where we get into the bull shi%!! Why didn’t their absent bowler prebowl?? Why not carry average like I think is the only fair way when BIG MONEY IS involved! ((I know, I keep hearing that you have to pay for the bowling, and it’s not right to pay and not play)) Easy solution, you get free bowling ticket for the games you paid for! As I have said before, it’s also not fair IMHA, to prebowl! You’re getting, and can have great oil, and no distractions depending on how good of a friend the mgr.’s are!
It’s all about fair! But this Evil Force that is in 1st place now, shuffling at will one of THE Better Bowlers in the World is not fair or even good sportsmanship!
I have even seen them worshiping false idols in that dark corner of the bowling alley, over by the Red Hot’s machine! Red HOTS…. Put it all together, and what do you have Dude!!!
