Well Its now one victory for The Dude, and One for Iceman!! Who will be the cutter, and who will be the hairless bowler!! We did it different this time,,, threw a few warm up balls, then one practice game, and then the one for the hair-cut!! I didn’t have a 279,,, or whatever it was The Dude did last week, but it was good enough!

Now that I have the Lucid,,,, I feel,,,,,,, I FEEL almost sorry for Jason next Friday!!! I used the pearl Nanno virtual gravity today! Undefeated 1, and 2 were under the weather today, so I decided to wrap them in a soft micro blanket, and put them to bag!!
I have to say this,,,, the V.G. Nanno, is nothing like the Lucid!! I expect some very high scores next week, and this coming Sunday on league!

I am just wanting all you out there to know something! I am 64 years old! I know,,, I know I don’t look a day over 62, but the reality is,,,, ( I am!)! One of the Dude’s reasons for kicking my butt sometimes is this!

1. We arrive at the AMF lanes at 12:00,,,, we have free bowling until 2:00pm!
2. It’s usually just him and me
3. We get so many strikes that it’s a very fast pace on two lanes
4. The Dude is 23,,, barely out of puberty, he is still full of greenness, and juvenility!
5. Iceman on the other hand is, ancient, aged, antiqued, timeworn, and of poor health

His strategy is to wear me out before the bowl off! Sure, it was set up that way by me, but remember, I am old and don’t think like I am old, until I look into the mirror. I still have that mind set of someone in his 30’s! I said MIND SET, not BODY set! Its right where it is, 64! I have way to many things to list about my POOR HEALTH, broken neck, back, ra, blood pressure, neuropathy in both feet,,,, ect ect!!!! And that’s just a few! I do well, and don’t cry about all my problems, but rather choose to just not think about them, and put them on ICE!

We will bowl 15, to 20 games in that 2 hrs of free practice,,,, I can hardly walk up to the bowling ball by the time we are ready for the ( HAIR CUT GAME)! My feet are numb!! (neuropathy due to broken lower back),,, but does he care…….()

I am asking Jason,,, who is 22 years old to make an amendment to our contract! All I ask is that we have the bowl off, after warm up, and one practice game!

The only reason I left early was, the X Pro bowler that I purchased the LUCID from wanted me to meet him! He drilled that Lucid, and might I say did one hell of a job!! Its now my strike machine,,,, I am not sure if I was dreaming, or awake, but that ball was in my thoughts all through the night! LUCID you might say, was my state of mind!

You ALSO might remember all of the high games that have been posted in this thread that were bowled by YOU during those "championship" games.

Unless you've severely aged during a 5 month span, then I don't know about this "breaking down" thing at the end of 6 games thing. If say you are, then I'll just have to believe you. You've been known to fake an injury before (LOL :D)

Also, like James has told you, age is just a number.. the pins don't care how old you are. I'm not saying that you don't have physical ailments that you have to deal with, because I know you do. You make it sound as if because I'm younger, the pins will fall easier though. You make it sound like you don't have just as much chance of knocking down 10 as I do. Throw a good ball, and age doesn't matter.

I'm not going to bowl Game 1, 2, or 3, as our "championship" game. The #1 reason why I'm there, is to practice and have fun with you. If we are going to bowl this "championship" game, then I will do it anytime AFTER game 3. Keep in mind, we only bowl 6-8 games.

Yes, Jason/Dude,,,,, I have aged,,,, and its sad that you can't see it when we are togerther bowling........ I only ask one small flavor!! I must say this up front!! I AM ON A DREAM TEAM!! We bowl against some pretty damn good teams, and yet we always seem to find a way to beat them! Last week we bowled the second place team, and in our always TEAM effort, we WON all 4!!

(That was a good team, and in one game one of our two Top Guns, had the worst game of his life, lol… 174,,, ( his average is 232), but guess what!!! Jason, our other top gun, Joyce, and Myself stepped up and we still won! It happens week after week! Someone will give a little extra when needed! I enjoy being on this team so much, that its like the 4th of July every week!

Jason came up with the idea that we should shoot for: NO MORE THEN 10 losses for the entire league season!! Wow,,,, You know that could happen!! After 8 weeks we only have 4 losses!

I do know that winning is not everything, and more than anything else, I enjoy the fellowship, and company of my fellow bowlers.
It is the highlight of this Old broken down Ironworkers week, every week!

This is what i miss from back when we had five and then four person teams. There are three or four teammates to pick up the slack if you have an off game or series. Bowling doubles, you have to hope that one of your opponents is having a bad game too!

My hair is getting longer now that winter is here! It’s nice to know that Jason/The Dude will have even shorter hair in 3 weeks when I am first to make the magic number of 4! He will hardly even notice the hair cut, since his style is short, just like the short end of this challenge!

I have been practicing at the local barber college, not far from my place! They have shown me how to do it in a humane and painless way!
As I sit here looking at my Head of Hair in my hand mirror, I am very pleased and comforted in the fact that it will all be intact, at the end of this challenge!

This is turning into a HEAD GAME for me!!! I am not sure I will look appealing to my wife, if I have no hair! Unlike some men with great shaped heads, mine is shaped like a torpedo! People have bad days with any ball. The Nightmare is great. I love it. I just don't like the way I'm bowling right now. I'm the problem. I know once I start bowling well again, it will be my favorite ball.

Mike, many bowlers use a ball that is just too much for them and/or the lanes. On top of Jason's slump I also believe the Nightmare is too much for a house shot given his rev rate, rotation and speed. Plus when he said he can force it out that sent off a red flag to me. I was forcing the Terror out too and as soon as I balled down the scores started going back up.

Well we gave away 300 pins in handicap tonight lol. We won 3 and lost 1. Started with the Vivid tonight, and crushed the pocket the first 8 frames, only to get bad carry. Left a flat 8 pin in the 2nd, a flush 9 pin in the 6th, and 10 pin in the 8th. Then the wheels came off. Threw a 1,2,10 the next shot, opened. Struck the first ball in the 10th, then left a 1,2,4,6,10. So a game that I could of had the front 8, turned out to be a 202. Game 2, started throwing it terrible the first few frames. I said screw it, and went to the Nightmare. The first three shots with it were awful. Left a split, then an 8 count and 7 count, but I stuck with it. Closed the game out with 4 strikes (194). Game 3, started with 5 strikes (9 in a row from the previous game), then went just a tick high and left a 4 pin. Struck all the way till the last ball in the 10th, and left a 2, 10. So I shot a 277 the last game and 673 overall.

It was an "OK" night for me, but I ended fantastic, and did it with the Nightmare. I hope this is a good start to breaking out of this slump. Practice time tomorrow! (and the 1st of 7 hair cut matches lol).

I was ready to have my hair cut, and head shaved! Knowing he WAS IN A SLUMP, I thought ,,,,,Y NOT!! Now I think the whole slump thing was bogus!!!!!!! It was a SETUP!! 24 year old super star bowler, taking advantage of a Nice guy, that plays Santa, for free,,, to hundreds of Pet’s, and Old people!! Jason,,, what kind of person are you man!!!

I Just got back from the gym, and while in the Sauna, as the temperature of my body went up pushing 99.9 degrees, I had a vision, ,,,, or message,,,, It was soooooo clear,,,, Let me describe it to you Evil ONE that faked the damn slump!
I was climbing a tree,,,,, on this tree were bowling balls, growing where Fruit ,,,, or flowers might be!

There were Misfits, Terror,,,, even Nightmares hanging from the branches of the tree. The tree was in the shape of a bowling pin upside down, and out from its core were Long ,,, huge arms, with a hand at the end, its fingers inserted into the balls holding them up!
The tree said, Michael,,,,, take of my balls, and you will be invincible! I said to the tree, sure,,,, Right,,, like that line has never been used on a bowler before! I said: “ I don’t need your balls, your just Barking up the wrong bowler!” At that point a Hell Raiser directly over my head dropped, nearly missing my Long thick Gray Hair that Jason wants to remove! My Cat like reflexes saved what might have been pocket shot to my head, but wound up being a gutter ball!

I noticed as the ball hit the ground the holes,,,,, 3 of them that were there attached to the branch, finger like digits disappeared!!!
Jason came running out of NO WHERE, picked up the Ball and threw it at a YOUNG Boy Scout helping an old lady cross a very dangerous intersection!! He missed the boy scout, but instead hit the Old Sweet loving X Nun! Yes,,,, Not just any ordinary woman,,, one that was married to god!! WHAT KIND OF Bowler would do such a thing!! Nun,,, I know!!!!!

It was then,,,, It all became clear to me!! Defeating him will be a for all HUMANITY,,, NOT,,,, not just an old guy near the end, beating a YOUNG Bowling BALL Throwing at Nun’s , type of Bowler!

I ended my last league with a 208 average.. I hope to have it at least in the 213-220 range next league I do. Mike's average I believe is in the 185-195 range.. He is improving though. Learning everyday he says.

Boy, you pulled that one from the old files lol... The next league I did after that I ended with a 223, so I guess I achieved that goal... My current goal for this season is end a league with a 230 average and I'm just a couple pins shy in all my leagues.


Shot GREAT with the Nightmare tonight. Finally! 741 series, with a 78% strike percentage, maybe my highest ever (I think so). Really shoulda, coulda, woulda been an 800 series if it weren't for a couple opens. One of them was a pocket 7-10 split, PERFECT ball, in the 2nd frame of the 3rd game. Ouch! I shot 242 (split in the 10th with a chance at 279), 279, 220. Could have been 279, 279, 254 for an 812. Second game could have been a 300 as well. I crushed the pocket and left a 10 pin in the 5th frame, as I did all the other shots that game. So I guess it really could have been a 279, 300, 254 for a 833 series. Oh well, better luck next time! No more IF's.

Well,,,It was crowed, all lanes were taken, (school out, kid, and parents, what a mess!! Too crowed with too many wild young ones running around to set up the camera, but next week we will film again! I am picking up my new Marauder Madness tomorrow at 1 pm!!

It’s the Marauder that I have had my 3 700 plus games with! It’s too bad we couldn’t film, I wore all white today!! With my white hair I looked pretty damn HOT!! I look good in black, but being Iceman, White looked like snow/ice!

Hmmm the Madness huh. Ask what the drilling is for me. I'm just trying to learn what others think are good layouts for people I've seen bowl. Ok guys.. News to REPORT!

I'll start by saying -- Mike FORGOT the camera today!

Now, on to the news. I was using my DV8 Nightmare today, and three games BEFORE the haircut game, I shot a 290. Left a 10 pin in the 1st frame, then struck out. Next game, I shot 300! (After I just shot one in league last night). The 3rd game I shot 258, for an 848 practice series! I had 24 strikes in a row at one point, which crushed my old record of 16.

So, because Mike forgot the camera today, we were just going to skip it this week. So I ended up putting the Nightmare away (because why keep practicing with a ball I was on fire with), and I brought out my DV8 Too Reckless. Mike changed his mind and decided he did want to bowl the haircut game today. I still kept the DV8 Too Reckless out, though, and bowled with it for the haircut game (which I haven't used in who knows how long). To no shock, I struggled badly with the ball and Mike won.

Mike felt bad though, because he knows it was because of the ball why I bowled so poorly, not me. So he told me to get my Nightmare out and we bowl again for the haircut game. Well, I ended up winning, and now I feel bad and don't want the win.

So, we thought we'd leave it up to you.

Would you rather:


Mike gets the win since he won the first time today?
Jason wins because he won with the ball he should have been using?
OR because Mike forgot the camera anyway, we just forget about this week, and do it next week, when we can film it! (That's my vote)

Had another Dream last night, soon to be knocked out of first place Jason! In that dream, Manic and Iceman are walking through a beautiful forest! The path was not dirt, or cement, it was a bowling lane! A long curving, up and down undulating lane, not like your typical alley!

We were jogging for about a half mile, and there along the side of the road were 4 people in rags, holding out cups, begging! It was hard to see their faces, due to their un kept appearance, but when they held their cups out I notice that there was an envelope in the cup.

I took it out and broke the seal to inspect what this was all about! It had this code! M, A, I, W, W, A, 4!! Any help out there in deciphering the code???

Strange Dream, as we started our journey down the lane, I looked back and they all 4 had disappeared, and in their place small mushrooms, or toadstools!

I looked up at the dark blue rich colored sky, and the few clouds that were there formed the letters ,,, M,A,I,W,W,A,4!!

The highlight of the series was Jasons 300! Good clean game,,, I think I had a few 10/7 pin leaves,,,, not many..... I will get that 800 believe me!! League is sanctioned, therefore legit honor scores still count. As long as you have no strikes that changed because of a 9 count (which can be seen by it's color, normal strike is black, a 9 count strike is red) then it is legit. Also, the front counter can tell if it was changed.

My 300 was legit, and had several witnesses to prove such.

I thought the head Nut of the league was not going to count it as a 300, due to the fact it was done on the 9 pin tap! I went up there and came unglued! "I mean, it was a clean, and magnificent game to watch!

We were at the counter, the manager said it was a sanctioned 300 regardless of the fact we were playing, 800 tap for Iceman!! LOL,,,, That's what I had.. (check it out) lol,,, I kick some 9 pin butt!!

It's true, it's true! I didn't want to bowl in the summer! Mike asked me and asked me, but I always turned him down, and it pained me to do so. The little boyish look in his eyes as I had repeatedly turned him down.... boy that was hard to look at. There were times I saw what I thought were tears coming from his eyes, but he insisted it was just condensation because it was too hot for iceman and was causing him to melt ever so slightly. I know your secret, I know you were crying.

Gene, a great teammate (I should know, we took first in a 4 person team league this season, and I believe we CRUSHED you in that league!). He'll be there for you, but can you count on him to be there for you when you melt? Can you count on him to bowl a 300 when you need it!?!? I know you guys will be a good team. It's just too bad that I have now changed my mind, and now you are locked on a team with him. Because now, I must dominate you AGAIN! Me and BIG WILLIE (My new teammate)! We are ready for war. Come prepared.

Bill it was NOT a (SANCTIONED 9 pin league), it was the last game of the season, (that didn't count, and JUST FOR FUN), they decided to bowl 9 pin tap! Now, since is was a sanctioned league, and he did bowl a perfect 300 game, ,,, in game,,, (no red x's), it counts as a 300 game according to the rules!!

Iceman would have many 300 games this year, if 9 pin were legal sanctioned 300 games! The Dude just rolled a 300 perfect game in a 9pin tap game, and then had I believe 3 or 4 strikes after that in the following game, just to put a exclamation MARK on his RUN!

Hey Bill, I think there is a misunderstanding. This isn't a 9 pin tap league (I'd never join one), this was just our regular sanctioned league, and it was the last night, so the captain of my team thought it'd be fun to play 9 pin tap (I don't care for it, really), but I ended up bowling a legit 300. That's why it was sanctioned.


EDIT: Didn't see Mike's post above, but obviously he just said the same thing I did.



The tricky part was, after I bowled that 300 the first game, I wanted another 800. So the next game I started with 5 strikes (17 in a row to start the night), then if I left ANY 9 counts, I had to had the mechanic re-spot the pin, and I shot at my spare legally, in effort to shoot a legit series. The second game I shot a legit 254, and the third game, my carry went away quickly. So after I knew I couldn't get the 246 I needed for the 800 the last game, I just didn't re-spot anymore 9 counts. So basically, since I didn't get the 800 legally, I just didn't list anymore of my scores on the honor score sheet because the series wouldn't have been accurate. I just put 300, -, -, when it asked for my 3 games, and another "-" for series.

I learned something new again today. Yes, I misunderstood, thanks for clearing that up.
When I first started doing summer leagues all they had around here were 9-pin no tap leagues. It took two years to get them to add the PBA experience and now they have ten pin leagues but none of our summer leagues are sanctioned. Still cost the same so I don't know why they don't. Probably has to do with the officers of the local association wanting the summer off.

Not sure if this is the case with YOUR PEOPLE, but here, many people don't want to pay the $20 sanctioning fee, that's good for a year? So many of the senior league bowlers on fixed income vote not to go sanctioned!

Now if all the people you bowl with have their cards, then why in the world wouldn't they want it to be sanctioned? If they bowl an incredible series, or even a 300 game, they get nothing! And, as you mentioned its the same price?

Here most non sanctioned leagues are quit a bit less, and that's why most decide non sanctioned! I have found that there are a LOT of bowlers that don't carry a membership card!

all of our bowling fees this winter were 15, 15, and the big 22 is 17 a person, but its for 8000.00 prize money. At this point we are in first,,, The Dude and his partner are back there eating our dust!! My partner is my wife,,, Manic!! This is the league I bowled the 300 on two weeks ago! Jason had a chance to be on this league with ME TOO!! But chose a younger man! There is much to be said for knowledge, and wisdom that comes with age!!

If Manic and me win that $8000,00 bucks, we are going to have one hell of a party, and everyone on bowlingboard.com is invited!!

Our bowling cards were 19.00 for one year~ (to be sanctioned, and as you know it covers any and all leagues)!

Wow....is all I can say!

Sanction fees for us are $20. The great thing is if you get someone to start in the summer, the sanction goes until fall the following year.

I bowl a morning league, the majority are older and we pay $15 - we placed about 5th for pin money - $125, I took first place high series for $50, and we took first place high team series for $25/ea. The evening league is $20, but no way is there a $8000 prize fund - we will be lucky to get $50. If I could bowl as cheap as you guys, I would probably be bowling day and night!

Mike, the owner lets me practice for free and provides plenty of coaching opportunities to me so I don't want to be the only one trying to change things. I've talked to most of the other bowlers this weekend and none of them seem to care at all. The better bowlers take the summer off.

I don't want to permanently damage his head using a straight razor! His head will be damaged enough when I take the hair off, starting with a number 12, and slowly work my way down to a bare cool steel of the shaver itself!

then,,,, I will put lather up his head, and shave it with a safety razor, so that it shines a bright pink!!

We have been see/sawing back and forth on summer league! Sure he has a higher average then me, but (have you ever read about the lady that lifts the car off of a husband working under the car and the jack slips pinning him).... ?????

Hey ,,, I just started bowling on a sanctioned league 2 years ago.... but if you look at the beginning of this thread,,, (When the chips were down,,, who beat who?) 3 in a role!! (:)

Jason on a given GOOD Day, with the right oil, is Tough to beat!! Sports oil, or bad oil like we have had many times at our AMF bowling house,,, he can be beat and his scores will reflect it! He is a huge cranker style bowler! All his 300's have been on house pattern, Mine too! The day I bowled the 300, he would not have beat me, he was just a couple lanes up from me and didn't have a 300 that day.

My point is this: Can I beat Jason in a series league play, YES I have a number of times,,, Can he beat me, YES,, he has a number of times....

But if either of us bowled you, it would be a massacre... of the likes you can't even imagine!

Well we had our FIRST PLACE award and cash payout yesterday at the AMF Lanes. We set a record that everyone said has not been equaled. We won over 100 games in our large size league, with many good teams. My question is this: Don’t you find when bowling with CERTAIN bowlers you all just seem to bowl better?

I know our team that set that record, just seems to have a chemistry, that sparks us all to bowl at our peak! (Not saying we have great games, all the time), but when one of us was down, someone would step up to the plate and have a stellar day!
This team is, or should I say was, ONE OF THOSE TEAMS: Manic, The Dude, Hanging Chad, Biker Larry, and Iceman!

Now what to do with that prize money:

1. Buy another ball?

2. Get a pair of Dexter bowling shoes?, (it would be my first pair, most of you know I bowl in sandals, due to foot problem), but I must say the agony of de feet seems to be getting better. I can now wear a pair of comfortable tennis shoes without any problems. Maybe all the working out at the gym is paying off big time!!

3. Buy cleaning stuff, polish, cleaner, pads for my spinner? (from bowlingboard.com)

4. 4.Fill my truck up with diesel, lol, I have a 2006 Dodge diesel, that has a 34 gal, and 72 gal axillary tank, that when I go on trips pulling the 5th wheel, I rarely need to stop for fuel! One fill up can get me about 1900 miles, at 18mpg! Wait,,, hummm (it would take more then the prize money to do that lol) 3.60 X 106 gal =381.60

5. Buy bowling Cd’s/DVR’s? How 2’s ect.. I am still learning at 64! New to the sport

6. Use the money for plastic reconstructive surgery? Try to improve on perfection,, can it be done?

7. Give it to Jason, and back him on a PBA bid!!

8. Give half my winnings to a charity, and spend the rest on boozes and parting!!

I need your help, chose a number, and Iceman will spend his winnings in that way!

The Dude can not tell you his real name because his native language is so different from any human language there is no way to translate between them. The closest earthly language is that of the humpback whales. Similarly he can't tell you his planet of origin since it has not yet been discovered by earth's astronomers.

That makes PERFECT sense!! The humpback whales, I remember them sending that message back to that device that was about to destroy earth, (Star Trek The movie). Well,,,,,well,,,, Whale!!!! Thanks J!!! Your a very perceptive man!!

When I confronted Space Guy, he said,,, "what are you talking about??" We went to the bag and it was GONE!! This story is getting weirder by the moment!

1. was it even there?

2. Was I having a mind freeze... (iceman)?

4. going back to number 1, I have a picture, so I know it was real, meaning only 2, and 3 could apply??

Well now you all know the truth!!! At the bowling alley where The Dude/Jason bowls with me there is an old storage room that the janitor keeps supplies in for cleaning,,, it’s a small room,, maybe 3 by 4 feet!

I notice The Dude seemed pre-occupied for some reason Sunday, on edge, but still bowling OUT OF THIS WORLD!
At one point he ask if he could borrow one of my SPARE shoe covers, to that I replayed, no! Never aide the enemy when bowling someone like Jason, or whatever his real intergalactic name is!

He said,, “Thanks a lot Iceman”!! I said, “What are friend FOR”!
He then ran straight to that rest room, and I followed him,,, He was not in the bath room,,, “What the ,,,,,(the only way out was the door I came in, other than the small storage room I mentioned above!!

I grabbed the door knob, and slowly twisted the handle counter clockwise, an then QUICKLY PULLED on the handle, not knowing what to expect……. MY GOD,,,, this is the REAL DUDE!! I quickly without even thinking said:

What is your Real Name?

Where in all that’s holy are you from Space man!! Now we all know why you bowl out of THIS WORLD!!

What are you doing in this room?

JUST LOOK AT the surprised look in his eyes!!!!!

Michael is nuts! Funny as all get out but nuts non the less. I take it when I'm his age and and the hard work and heat get to me ill end up that way as well ;) I might have to make a drive up to K.C. The main problem that Bowlula has, (he is not a STRAIGHT shooter with most Diva’s he meets!)

Now you know why your don't realize when your actually Bowling with ,,,,,, an Alien!! One thing that gives them away is the zipper, (back of the head in the hair line)!! Very small,,, some use Velcro!!

I need to show everyone the 10 bowling ball haul with my motorcycle!! I will try to handle that HUGE task tomorrow!!! I will have my wife here in case I get hurt in the process!! It was a PERFECT NIGHT for the wife and me to ride Black Beauty to the bowling league that night. Nothing like the ride with our weapons of mass bowling destruction tucked in gently behind us! hummmmm ... The feel of the air on our faces, and the beautiful view of the stars!! Life is good.... bowling even better!!

LOL... I am pretty damn CRAZY, and even WILD,,, but not that wild ... LOL!! Hey we built that trailer ourselves for a total of $375.00! Got a Harbor Freight small trailer on sale, and purchased a Cargo carrier from sears 7 years ago. Did some modifications to the trailer,,, and its pulls like a dream!! I forget its even back there. Very air-0-dinamic!! Great even going throw the mountains of Colorado!! Most trailers for bikes cost about 3500.00 on up!
