Got the Mutant Cell Pearl, Storm Virtual Energy, and Brunswick T-Zone for spares. Looking at a few options as far as layouts go for the Mutant Cell and Virtual Energy. The current thinking is to use the Mutant Cell mostly for league (house pattern) and the Virtual Energy for the Hoinke and USBC tourneys. The house I bowl in puts down a little bit more oil on the outside boards, which makes the Mutant Cell the logical choice. From the vids I have seen, this ball really snaps hard from the far outside. One possible fly in the ointment is if the league decides to go with a sport condition. There has been some talk of this since the lane conditions over the last 2 seasons have been very inconsistent. With the sport pattern, the house wouldn't be allowed to put open bowlers on the lanes after oiling but prior to the league which is what they were doing on some pairs. This really would mess up the shot on these pair and it seemed I had the misfortune of getting stuck on one of the worst pair. In one case, the left lane was 10 boards tighter than the right. To make matters worse, the right lane was severely carried down. This made it necessary not only to play alot deeper but also to use 2 different balls- not something you should generally have to do for a house shot! Well, only 3 weeks until the new season begins and I need to get out and see how different the ball reactions are from the NV and NVS. Looking to get a good look at the performance no later than 1 week before league starts, especially if it's going to be a sport shot.
