I started out ok hitting a double out of the box followed by a missed 10 pin. That 10 pin my downfall. I couldn't double the rest of the game and ended with a 182. My best for the night. One guy that I crossed with had a 244 the 1st game and was in 3rd place HDCP after the 1st and 2nd games. His last game was a 120 something and he fell out from cashng.Other than him, no one on my pair even came close to average. Another guy had won once and placed 2nd already this summer, only had ...
It gets frustrating sometimes. Well, honestly, it gets frustrating a LOT. We practice Wednesdays, Peej and I. It's Dollar Night, the only time we can really afford to go roll a lot. At a buck a game we can get 5-7 games apiece in, about as much as either of us can stand at one go. The spirit is willing, and all. Usually we end up doing pretty well and I'll get a 200 or two in, pretty good for me. Then, come league day, I'm back in the 150s again! Mind ...
I just went cosmic bowling with the family, and we had a great time. I bowled a 147 and a 133, which was a good bit over my (6 game) average of 124. Unfortunately, for about 35 minutes we had to deal with some extremely obnoxious teenagers next to us. And as a teenager myself, I do enjoy goofing off with friends and just acting a little silly. But not to the point of aggravating and annoying other people on a consistent basis. They had a complete disregard for general bowling etiquette, as ...
I have been bowling on a league for about seven years now . In every house I have been in they have cleaned and oiled the lanes and finished 20min. before practice. Now with that said the hose I’m bowling in now oils and clean lanes at 9 or 11 am we start practice at 6:45 pm and I live in Phoenix , Az. HOT in the summer. Now the House says that is normal and there is nothing wrong with the lanes. I’m not a an expert but when oil sets it will gather to low spots on a surface. No matter how thick ...
Well, this afternoon will be my last chance warm-up with a 9-pin tournament, before my leagues start. My daughter's Summer leagues just ended yesturday. Her team took 3rd. I am so proud. Now I get to start mine again. I can't wait. Is it Monday yet!? :D So if anyone in the area of Cape Carteret, NC and looking to bowl today... @ 4:00 pm @ MacDaddy's $20. See You there.
Tonight is my weekly 9 pin no tap "trny". Its more of a bowling for bux, which is actaully the name. There are different color pins and are worth different amounts. Splits are your big $$. If you add a color pin into it then double it, 2 pins, triple.. Tonight I shot well. Came out the gate strong with a 268. The shot was alot better than it usually is and was really able to find a line quick. Going into the 2nd game I did notice my ball was wanting to try to hook a little early so I ...
Hi everybody. My name is Jim, call me Jamski, and I'm a BABe. I suppose I should explain that. My other big passion--and I have had a lot of them--is Model Rocketry. In rocketry, if you've been out of it for a while, say, since you were a kid, and you come back to it, you're a BAR: a born-again Rocketeer. So it only stands to reason that if you do much the same in bowling, why, you're a BAB. Or a BABe, if you want it to sound funkier, and of course I do. So. I got back ...
Last night was the meeting and 1st night of bowling for my 4 person mixed scratch league. Well the meeting seemed like it took forever with a rules change or alter on almost every one. we are running a 23 point system. 3 points per team game win, 2 points for team total, andd 1 point per game per singles win (you bowl the person accross you). The higher team in the standings will set their line up 1st and then the opposing team with set who they want to match up.This is a 9pm league so we will be ...
August 27-Poelking Marian Lanes-Dayton (still with a cast) First night of league in new (to me) house. Again, bowling orphan, placed with a team. Bunch of good guys-had a great time. I was told it was a rough league, if a 300 or 800 isnt shot on any night, its a rough night, 25% average 220+. Started practice with the Gladiator Pearl, it was ok, but when the lights came on, switched over to the Virtual Gravity. Started with the first 5, finsihed with 254. Second game, started with ...
Our league meeting was on Monday and not much got resolved. The meeting started 45 minutes late, 1/3 of the teams were not present and then half the members left because their league was starting. We had a motion on the floor to stay with the match points, increase the total points that can be won to 30 (my suggestion) and go to 3 12 week sessions vs. 2 halves and it didn't pass. The weekly payouts were also shot down. People figured if you want to go into any pots, we already had ...
I am a high school student who has just found a love for the sport of bowling (and yes I consider it a sport!). For my upcoming birthday, I've asked for a Storm Tropical Storm bowling ball. I can't wait to get it drilled and start bowling with it! I've bowled 6 games so far while hooking a house ball, with an average of 127, high of 143. Lots of splits and missed single pins, but I am teaching myself to bowl a hook with the help of youtube and here. It's exciting because I can ...
Tonight was our last night of league and we came into tonight in 4th place. We couldnt catch the 3rd place team, but could fall as far as 9th if we didnt hold our own. We came out of the gate losing by 20 pins . I shot a 201 during this game. The 2nd game we come back to win by 22 pins. I didnt do much help this game posting a 174. Now we are 2 pins apart with the advantage to us. The 3rd game was all ours. We ran away with it and won by almost 100 pins. I added a 190 to the team this game. We finished ...
Aug 25-Season starts at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Beavercreek, OH. Its a trio Classic league with some hefty shooters. I was an orphan, since I was coming from another house, and didnt really know anyone. I was placed with a couple guys, and on paper our average is around 600. Practice was ok, it was interesting since I'm in a cast on the left side. Started out with a 155 (4 splits/1 conversion), then started the 2nd game with 4-finished at 207. Third game-/X/XXXXX- starting to look for 270 finish-but ...
Last night was the final nightof my summer PBA league. I went into the roll off seeded 18th of 44. we do ours bracket style when highest seed bowls lowest with top 10 getting a 1st rd bye.. I as paired against the 33rd place guy that was carrying a 163 average to my 183 for the season. The shot was the PBA US Open. This is a 40ft flat pattern gutter to gutter. I will start by saying it played nothing like it should. people were already swinging the ball in the 1st game. hmmmm... well the guy i bowled ...
What a joy it is to work 2nd shift, the options for morning leagues around here for people under the age of 65 and over the age of 16 this fall are slim and none. There are two other leagues running, but they are both closed leagues - everyones from the same company. The good news is that I should be able to get in some good practice time, but I'll miss the competition. Hopefully once a month or once every 2 months I can get some one on one coaching time, which I really need again. ...
After last week where we dropped 6 points we were hopping for an improvement this week, especially from Macca. He could not play as bad as last week, could he. We start and I am off with a couple of 9 spares then an open and an 8 spare, but Macc carries on where he left off last week missing his spares, we were 15 pins down on handicap before we started against team scruff, who are 1 point above us in 4th place but we already are now some 30 pins down, it is going to be one of them ...
The meeting is 3 weeks before the league starts but I'm getting excited about the upcoming season nonetheless. First a little background on the league. Last season we had 18 teams in this match point trios league. We work off a 27 pt. system and the season was split into 18 week halves. The handicap is 90% of 240 and it's $35 a week. Breakdown is $13.50 lineage, $.40 secy, $.40 treas and $20.70 prize fund. Subs are allowed but have to be on the roster by the 5th week of each half ...
Today was the final day of the trny. went into today in 3rd and 4th in doubles (different partners) and I was in the cut for the semi's. I got there before the last squad to watch everyone to see what lines they were playing and how the balls were reacting. It didnt look to be much different than yesterday.. miss inside it would take off, miss outside and no chance of coming back. I saw more splits in this months trny then all the others combined. It was split city.. Well by the end of the regular ...
My trios team belongs to a league with no entering team cap average. Any team can join and some of them are basically super teams. My little modest 585 average team (league average is about 615) goes up against some teams who average 690, 675, 665 and so on. The 690 team is spotting us around 90+ pins. Even at those handicap pin numbers, trying to defeat a super team can be difficult to overcome when you see then throw strike after strike. But that's just all in your head. Is your ...
Due to the absorbtion rate of today's bowling ball resins, it's imperative to clean your equipment after each set. If you have access to a spinner, you can clean the balls even better. Try to use an approved cleanser that can be found on the USBC's website. There are many different cleanser's from various manufactorers on the market. Try to pick a trusted name. I myself use Ultimate's Black Magic. Spray it on the ball and use a microfiber rag to wipe down dry. This will help keep ...
After getting down here to orlando to the trny i learned that the shot was only a 36ft pattern. It was bone dry on the inside and a little more oil on the outside but still not much.. the fact that they would put out a shot that dry knowing that there would be 6 squads was kind of crazy. My 1st squad i bowled with mrbill on my set. I bowled HORRIBLE!!!! I wont mention the scores (yes that bad) but it was ugly. I cam back in the 2nd squad and re-entered singles and also bowled doubles with my usual ...
Last night was the weekly tournament again. I was excited to find out that they were still running the new house shot which i am currently averaging 244 on. :-) well my 1st game i jumped out of the gates with a 268. I was sitting in 2nd after the 1st game. The second game we moved to the end set and that wasn't so good. Shot 176, the shot was like completly different down there. I split every shot on the left lane and stuck the right lane. I was still sitting in 2nd after the 2nd game due to having ...
well today is the day to start this months Florida Bowlers Classic tournament. I will be making to trip from jacksonville to orlando once again. I am not looking forward to this center as it was very difficult for me to make the cut last time we bowled here. but hey more difficult things make you better.. its around 8:45 and i left my house about 15 min ago. the gps says 145 miles to go. if all goes right me and mrbill will be bowling on the same set 1st squad.. ill keep posted... gotta get back ...
Well, here I am at the cornerstone of another league season, pondering what to do about bowling equipment. I remember the days when you could just keep the same 2-3 balls in your bag for a couple of seasons, and once a year give them a quick re-surface job and go bowling. Nowadays, with specialized balls for different lane conditions, and coverstocks that need constant cleaning and attention, it actually takes a re-tooling of my entire arsenal each season. So, I am going to list what I have by ...
by Mo Pinel - turned into usable english and reposted by Luckylefty. This method can make a lot of changes in pitch both forward reverse and left right workable.... For testing front bevel....the important part under the flat of the thumb. If not correct one can get serious nerve damage and black spots under the front base of the thumb(many increasing their forward pitch experience these black marks and electric shock feelings if they do not increase their forward bevel ...
