Default News Ball + New Measurements = New Life!

So I started this threada few days ago about how my Frantic just doesn't come out of my hand correctly compared to my older ball that has a little longer span.

Long story short, I went to a different driller that works for the same store to have her check out my Frantic that I was struggling with and ended up coming home with this!

I am now officially a Deviant and a very happy one at that.

We started out by looking at my Frantic and comparing it to my old Messenger. She said the other driller did drill the span to my ring finger too short and that's why I wasn't getting the lift with it like my Messenger. She said it would take a couple days because the plug has to set a while before it can be redrilled.

I then said I was thinking about getting a new ball too and about 30 min later I was rolling the Terror down the lane. The new measurements were night and day compared to how the Frantic was drilled. I can actually get some decent revs on it. She set it up with a 4x4x1 layout which is nice and strong, but doesn't roll too early either. My line with my Frantic was starting on 23-25 and throwing just right of the third arrow. With the Terror I can start on 28-30 and throw right between the third and fourth arrow. Plus if I miss a little right it just comes right back and crushes the pocket. Ball is just amazing. Hits like a ton of bricks and the pins just fly. I haven't seen a messenger blast a 10-pin like that in a while.

I threw three games with it. 185, 197 and 212. Had 6 strikes in a row between the 10th frame of the second game and a 5 bagged to start the third game. Can't wait to bowl again tonight.
    Cheers - Ryan

Nice ball! It is crazy how measurements being just a little off make such a huge difference.

Good luck with the new ball. I bet your confidence is pretty high now, new ball plus correct layout = huge smiles I bet!

It is amazing. Probably only about 3/16" made a huge difference.

Worth noting: many bowlers today are shortening their spans, not making them longer. Longer spans commonly cause medical issues with your wrist and hand. Something to be wary of.

Also, if you need a long span to generate rev rate, you're doing it wrong. Sean Rash's span is darn near a conventional grip (its short even by modern standards). Fagan uses a Sarge Easter, so one of his fingers actually IS conventional.

@ Bahshay - the span on my old ball was too long and uncomfortable. My new ball is longer, but still comfortable.

Congrats on becoming a Deviant! Now watch your average rise by at least 10 pins with 20 being the average lately.
