Default Holy Cow witnessed a sanctioned 826

Tonight was my regular league bowling night and I did ok, a couple of 200 + games with a 171 in between but the real story was watching a guy on the next pair bowl, he started off with a 300 then threw a 268 and than a 258 for an 826 ! best series I've ever witnessed in person ! Bowled the whole night with a Roto Grip Hypercell skid and a spare ball.

It was fun to watch !

    Nice.

I still can't fathom the handful of 900 series on the record books. 36 straight strikes. I understand being on your game and hitting the pocket every throw but not leaving any of those pesky 10 pins in 36 rolls?

    That's a sight to see!

The highest I've ever witnessed is in the 760s or 770s.

That said, I enjoy watching other bowlers try for 300s. Although they've become relatively common over the years due to technology, it still means you have to throw 12 good shots, or have a lot of lucky breaks. My first week in league this year a guy bowled a 300 against me, and it was the best 300 I've ever seen. Each shot was perfect, right in the same spot--it was truly fun to watch.

We just had an 820-something in my Tuesday league,

    288-23X-300.

He just needed a decent count and a spare in the 10th frame of the last game to hit his first 800, and he whiffed the head pin, but got the domino strike, then closed it out with good shots.

The second game he left 2 10 pins in a row and picked them both up, the last game he left a 10pin in the 4th and 7th frames and picked them both up. So he had no open frames the whole night. I can't imagine a 900, we did have this guy and one of his teammates both shoot 300's a month or so ago and the teammate shot 21 in a row but and then shot a 225 for the last game and ended up with an 804.

It's nice to carry one like that at the right time !
We have had quite a few 300's in our league the past few years, used to have one "kid" in the league who shot 5 or 6 in a season, I don't think he was even 30 and already had 30 + 300 games.

The place I practice on Mondays must have put out a super easy shot. There's an All-Star league that bowls at the other end of the house, and there were 4 300's and 3 800+ series shot. I shot a 289 my first game. There was a woman who shot 300/791 in that league that night too. Crazy scores
