Default Hammer's Drilled layout on asymmetrical for a stroker

    Hey all,
I have recently gotten back into bowling after 15+ years. I believe I am a stroker, I do not have a lot of speed and I can not crank the ball. I purchased a Pyramid Blueprint Project and judging buy there layouts I went with the #1 layout, since it said for strokers. Well, while waiting on getting the ball drilled I noticed a rack of bowling balls for $100. I asked and the guy said that they are used very little maybe 3 games, they were demo balls. He talked me into a Hammer Deep Purple Taboo. The thing is, it was already drilled, he just had to add a plug, it was an insertable type, in the thumb hole and drill it to for my thumb but he was concerned about drilling partially thru the plug so my span is shorter than normal. For the most part I can deal with it. The issue is The blueprint has a very nice hook to it but I cannot get the Hammer to hook hardly at all. I have a feeling it is drilled for someone that cranks the ball. On the ball it says 4 3/8. Now my question is, for a stroker like me on medium to heavy oil, which Hammer Layout should I use? I tried to figure it out and had no luck so I thought I would ask here.

On option for me would be to leave it like it is and use it for drier conditions, but in case I change my mind I wanted to find out which layout to use.

Penny wise and pound foolish. Spending $100 for a ball with a span that is too short is sort of like getting a great deal on a race car with no clutch!

Have to agree with Rob here. The pro shop should have properly plugged the hole and redrilled it to your span. Giving you a ball that fits poorly is bad business. I would find a new proshop the simple fact that they were even able to consider doing something like that is proof enough that it's time to shop elsewhere

At the time i thought it was odd as well. I will take partial blame for not staning up and saying lets plug this properly and drill it the way i want. You 2 are right, he should have done it right in the first place. Which is why i was going to go back and talk to the guy to see what he says. I've been trying to email hammer but i think the contact area is messed up. I just dont know which drilling layout to go with. I tried uploading it here but it says its too big. Ill try later tonight.

Your pro shop should be helping you pick out your lay out. We know none of your stats and haven't seen you bowl it is impossible to help someone pick a layout just from what you have told us. If you still trust the pro shop then talk with them about what you want the ball to do. Make sure they watch you bowl and that they have measured your PAP if they don't do those things go somewhere else.

I agree, you should RUN from that Driller. He seems to be only in it for the quick cash and not customer satisfaction. Your comfort and fit are going to directly effect the performance of the ball. Find someone that will take the time to fit you correctly. I would ask local league bowlers who the trust. Its funny but on league night at our house there are so many RSW pro shop shirts worn by the bowlers. (which is the shop I use) the House pro shop hates it but he is just like the one described her in this thread. We are trying to get that changed.

I knew it was a long shot but thanks for the great advice from everyone.
