Default Time for a plugging and redrilling.......

I bought my Hammer Anger ball in 2007. I am sure that my thumb size and my release technique have changed and maybe my span. My thumb pitch is 1/4 reverse. The way my release is now, which is better, my thumb pitch does not let me control the ball at release comfortably. Plus the hole is too big because I was heavier when I bought it. So I want to get it plugged and have maybe an 1/8 inch forward pitch. The pro shop guy said the pitch I have now is for someone who holds on tight to the ball in the swing. I don't death grip it now. I like the ball and don't want to get a new one. So I need a span check and a tighter thumb hole and some forward pitch. I am not sure what the cost will be.

Honestly you might be better off buying a new ball from your proshop. My PSO charges 55 dollars just to plug let alone the cost to redrill. Do yourself a favor and buy a good new ball, most GOOD PSO's include the price of drilling in their pricing.

One of my teammates just had that done on a ball 2 weeks ago, He said his total cost with a new slug and everything was 35.00. It probably varies by area and circumstances, might be worth stopping in or calling your local pro shop for a price. The PSO does bowl with us so there could have been a discount applied, I don't know.

Just a plug and redrill of thumb should not be that expensive.

Do you know what the thumb pitch is on the ball you like the fitment of?

Just get a new ball IMO.

I get plug and re-drill for cheap. $25-$35 for a the holes, $10-$13 for thumb or fingers only. Some times, I pay with Starbucks and/or In and Out meal lol...

$55 just to plug only???? that's nuts!

I just want to make it clear that I just want the thumbhole plugged and re-drilled to a new pitch. I am not talking about those slugs that they put in a ball and then you can stick in different sizes of thumbholes by just putting in and turning to click it in. Those I know are expensive to have done.

Does your ball have a slug in it now, not talking about an interchangeable thumb slug, but a blank / solid slug that they then drill out. If you do and the pitch it all you want changed it might even be possible, depending on how the ball is drilled now , to either drill out the old slug or drill out the thumb hole for a slug and then drill the new slug with the change in pitch you are looking for......
Here is a video that shows a blank slug being installed

I just called the pro shop where I bowl and the guy said for a plug and drill the cost is $23.00. The reverse pitch I have on the thumb now does not let me control the ball enough. The thumb is coming out too fast and I have to squeeze harder which I don't want. I have a relaxed grip and swing these days plus I want the thumbhole tighter because I don't spin the ball but stay behind it. So my release has changed since I bought the ball in 2007.

    That isn't a bad price.

If you are happy with the ball I would for sure go that route. I myself have been slightly tweaking the pitches of each new ball as I get them, trying to get it exactly like I want.

With a plug and redrill they can easily adjust your span if needed which is a bonus.
