Another lovely evening, if I had spent it doing something other than bowling.

192/174/234 = 600

Not sure what happened. About 5 frames in, I started grabbing, and couldn't make it go away. Mostly due to the fact that nothing felt wrong. Footwork good, timing good, but just kept tugging. Had one so bad I missed the head pin left. Think it's time to set down the Sure Lock. I've been starting with this ball all year, and have gotten wildly inconsistent results. Both times switching to the dinosaur Nano has put me back on track. On a different note, my brand new Storm glove has had the tack surface peel off already. Been using these for years, and the glove always made it the whole year. This one lasted 4 weeks. Anyone else having issues with these?

I know the feeling. Rolled a 462 last night and I'm the lowest average on my team by 20 pins. When I quit 15 years ago I was the 2nd highest on the team and about 5th in the league. Getting to where it isn't fun anymore.

If I said I hadn't contemplated packing it up this year, I'd be lying. I just cannot put a finger on what's wrong. Everything feels okay, but the end result sure isn't.

Put down the Sure Lock. Pretty sure this ball is done. My 4 year old Nano behaved much better. Too bad the operator wasn't up to the task. First game felt good (save a RINGING 8-10 split, which I haven't seen in well over a decade), but started to grab the ball, and could not stop. Out of the 9 (yes, 9) opens, 8 were splits. Okay, the 8-10 and a ringing pocket 7-10 not-withstanding, I deserved all the rest. I did whiff one 10 pin, but I'll blame that on the guy that fell down two lanes over right while I was throwing. Nothing felt off, but I just couldn't stop tugging the damn ball. The owner was standing behind several of my shots, and couldn't see anything that was way off. About ready to chuck this **** and sit down until next year. I'm finding it hard to even believe I'm still holding 196, because it sure feels worse.

The 8-10 sucks. We see several of those. I'm a lefty and left a 7-9 a couple months ago but lucked out and picked it up. Went for the 9 and it bounced out of the pit and hit the 7. Pure luck.

But I feel your pain on the spares. My 3rd game last night I had 7 strikes and 4 opens, not a single spare and ended with a 172. Really frustrating.

There was some semblance of life tonight.

214/226/214 = 654

Steady, consistent night. Still had way too many mistakes, and still tugging the ball a bit, but much more controlled last night. 3 opens were two splits, and chopped a 3-6. Brighter note, won both brackets and took second in doubles, plus took all three points for the first time this year. Still using the old Nano. Average up to 198.

One straight up weird night. 225/200/169 = 594.

When we walked in, overheard someone talking about there may have been some issues with the oiler. Yep. Right from the get-go, it felt like the shot was a little burnt, but obviously manageable. On top of that, our scoring system bit the dust in the 6th frame, so we were on paper the rest of the night. You'd have thought with the number of older guys in this league that someone would know how to keep score, but I was wrong. That little distraction, coupled with the complete breakdown of the shot in the third game (seriously, I started that game with 4 in a row), and you get a sub-par night. Considering I started the night with my ball-down ball, I should be happy. Meh..... Average stays at 198.

Another spectacular Tuesday night at the Arcade.

156/226/211 = 593. Could not hang on to the ball the first game. I heard that sickening thud of the ball landing next to my foot at least 6 or 7 times. Finally came up with a 1/2" piece of white tape, cut in half, in the side of the thumb hole. Settled down after that, but damage done. Still using my balldown ball. Hoping they go back to whatever they've been doing in the past. A lot of rumblings about finding new digs to bowl at. They don't have a full league as it is, and it's only 10 lanes. None of us signed up for a challenge league, but that's how it's playing. Still mired at 198.
