Week 25

Holding onto 1st place, 4 points ahead of the 2nd place team.

Pushed a few shots right. Shooting was so dang inconsistent, that I didn't really think it was a ball issue.

The line was breaking down early, but a move left caused a flat 10-pin. So, I switched to the Fireball. Finally switched to the Force Pearl in the 10th.

Still couldn't find consistent carry. Missed two 7-pins...

- A little better performance and we could have taken all 4 points.

Just a letdown. I mean, at the end of the day, I had the 3rd highest series on our team...but it doesn't "feel" great.

Sunday Night Established Mixed League

Week 27

Currently sitting barely in the top 50% of the league. 11.5 points out of first and 17 points out of last.

Got to bowling late and didn't have a chance to warmup. So, the first two frames I was still trying to figure out the line. But, I got dialed in after that. Then the line started to break down in the 8th...but it was hard to figure out if it was the line or just me pulling my shots.

Switched to the Fireball for Game 2. Struggled on one of the lanes and just couldn't run anything together.

Stuck with the Fireball through 8 frames before finishing the night with the Force Pearl.

Very similar to last week (179-213-216: 608). I was trying to focus on being more balanced at the foul line and posting my shots. I think I was leaning too far forward and need to focus on being more upright...a little forward bend but not bent over. Over 600 and a clean game...I'll take it.

Bowling is an odd game. Just when I start hating it, I bowl well and remember why I love it. Conversely, just as soon as I start loving it...I remember why I hate it.

Wednesday Night Established Men's League

Week 26

The Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid was doing okay in practice, but it wasn't doing nothing as Game 1 started, so I switched the Ebonite Fireball in the 3rd. Spare shooting and my physical game was so inconsistent that I it was just horrid.

Managed to piece together a 200+ game thanks to better spare shooting. Switched to the Force Pearl in the 8th.

Just horrible. And it wasn't the ball. I just struggle terribly when I have to throw around 15. I was standing 14-15 boards left of center and aiming 14-15 out past the arrows and everything has to co perfectly just for me to get it to the pocket. And I was FAR from perfect.

Worst night since Week 1. Worst night of the fall (both leagues) since early November 2025. Fourth worst game of the 2025-26 fall season. And...it was just having to play 3rd arrow...which is my "C-Game". I'd rather throw the ball straight up the 2-4 boards. No thanks to me...the team managed to salvage at least one point...but wow. Oh how the mighty have fallen. I guess thats how the bowling gods keep you humble. You start rolling 600+ series every night and start getting ideas that you should participate in State tournaments and maybe bowl in the USBC Masters, etc... Then you will a 140 game and average 170 and realize you're not "a bowler"....you're just a dude that bowls.

Week 28

Team took all 4 last week, so we moved up into 7th.

480 Series: 151-158-171

Had to move 1:2 inside right off the bat. The lanes continuing to play really dry. Only made it through 8 frames before I finally gave up on it and balled down to the Fireball. Didn't really help.

Kept with the Fireball through 6 frames, but finally just gave up on it and moved to the Force Pearl. Of course, by then I was playing 3rd arrow...so not really any hope that any ball is going to help me.

Just more disastrous, horrible, tragic, poor bowling...

- Everything. Just...everything.

Two straight outings (Wednesday and tonight) where I just could not consistently hit the pocket and when I did, I'd leave a 7-pin or a 9-pin. The leaves were telling me I needed to move left, but once I got to 3rd arrow...everything falls apart. Any 1-2 board miss right and the angle is so bad that the ball will barely (if at all) make it back to the pocket. And, with the volume of oil in the middle, a pulled shot just slides straight into the nose and leaves a split.

Every league I seem to have one stretch...usually 3-7 weeks...where something just goes out of whack and...without the regular coaching I used to receive...it takes me longer to get back to where I was prior to the slump. So, hopefully this is a 1-2 week slump...then I'll be back averaging in the mid - upper 190s. Or, this slump drags on until the end of the season and I have to hope things turn around over the summer.
