The connection to the movie is the new phone book had just come out, and it was the first time Steve Martin's character had his name listed.
He thought that was great, and things were going to start happening for him now.

next scene:

The sniper picking a name at random out of the phone book.

Then:

The sniper outside of the gas station shooting at Steve Martin who was working to pump gas and check oil levels.

So since I am new here, and pick at random right away, I thought it was an appropriate reference.

Mike, I knew you got a PM. I was just curious how Bowl1820 knew before it was posted here and it was Facebook. I expected you to know before the rest of us. As for the questioning of a "random" drawing; Watch the picks that win each week. Since I've been on here there has only been one repeat winner and the winner is usually a person that joined and posted at least six times that week. I'm alright with it. I won the week I joined too and it is a great way to try and entice people to stay and participate.
