This drill saved me years ago when I was about to quit the sport. I was so bad and couldn't figure out the release. The men's coach suggested this to me without our coach knowing (she got mad when he would try to help us girls). It took quite a while but I finally learned where, how and when to do what with my hand. Really helped and highly suggested even to just keep that release.
Good drill to practice, especially when you feel your not throwing it right. Just do this about 25 times and you'll start to get the feel back
Thanks bowl1820 for posting the football drill video! I'm going to practice this drill over the weekend; going bowling on Sunday![]()

In the bag: DV8 (Misfit, Zombie), Roto Grip (Disturbed, Wrecker), Storm (Hy-Road Pearl, Ice, IQ Tour Pearl, Sync, Tropical Breeze)
High league game: 256. High league series: 618 PAP: 3 1/2" over 1" up
It appears the USBC coaching staff is going away from the football drill because it promotes rotating the thumb counter clockwise past 12.
The motion is fine as long as you realize that the rotation takes place after the thumb is out of the ball.
