    Default Benchmark Ball

Does anybody have any tips on finding a good benchmark ball? I'm upgrading to 16 lbs so I would value your help.

    Thanks,
    Casey

I usually use a medium oil ball as my benchmark. Right now I use a Brunswick Massive Damage.

Absolutely agree. Medium oil ball is good for benchmark. Columbia U-Turn is my benchmark ball. Older ball that still provides some great scores, but still what all of my other bowling balls are compared to.

I would recommend that you get a benchmark ball that fits the conditions that you play in the most frequently; light oil, medium oil, heavy oil, or sport shot.

The first part for a benchmark ball is have you Pro Shop look and watch you roll your arsenal.
Then you and your Pro Shop guy will discuss all the options.
There are a lot of great bowling balls out and your new bench mark ball will be the ball for most oil patterns.

I use my IQ Pearl for my benchmark ball at my current league. The oil can run anywhere from pretty heavy to medium oil. The IQ Pearl runs pretty well for that range.

For new houses, I start with the Frantic. Good medium-oil ball which covers most houses.

Move left young Man !! Keep it aside for the heavier oil houses and tournaments. If you don't have a weight hole in it check with the proshop and see if it would help the ball go longer with the hole. That would cut down some of the early hook.
