Default Should I buy a ring?

Last wednesday (9/3/14) I shot my very first 299 game! So the question is if you had the money, would you buy a ring to go along with the plaque?

    Thanks,

    Zothen

Only if you feel you're not likely to achieve that 300 score.

I shot 299 shortly after having shot 300, so I opted for the watch. (back in 1990)

I know where my 300 awards are, but I'd be hard pressed to locate that watch.

First off, great job bowling!! I would buy one, but not to wear. I think it would be tacky. But it would great to have on a shelf in the house or to pass down to one of my kids. I hope I get to have the opportunity.

No. It'd be nice to get a plaque (I heard they don't give them out anymore). But I'm saving my money for the first 300. As much as I really, really WANT it….it's gonna be an expensive event if it ever happens because for that 1st 300 I'm getting the ring in gold with all the bells and whistles. And last I checked, gold prices are still high. : (

    You're looking at $1000-$1200. http://www.keepsakebowling.com/300-g...ard-rings.html

Zothen, I think it would be nice to commemorate your achievement. It could be a nice conversation/display piece. Or, you could order a ladies ring for wife/girlfriend. That's what I did, mainly because blue is her favorite color. It made her day and she gets compliments about it on a weekly basis.

Edit: The one I got for her was the Majestic 299 with a blue stone. I just looked through the USBC awards and apparently they no longer give awards for 11 in a row?

my grandfather said as long as he's alive when i get my first trip he'll by the ring, provided he can wear it for 15 minutes since he has never gotten one or will not with his failing health, that is why it is imperative i get this 300 this year. my grandfather lit the fire that is my passion for bowling at a young age, he's now pushing 80 and has had 3 open heart surgeries, we all know our time is limited. thats why i'm so concerned with fixing my finger pain, i know i am not consistent with this pain and i need to fix the problem ASAP and get that ring for my grandpa.

I'm rooting for you. I think that would be really cool for you and your grandpa.

Grats on the 299 keep at it and you will hit that 300 in no time. And yes get the ring.
