Bowl1820 I am almost 70 yrs old. I weigh 270 lbs. So sticking isn't an option. On my Dexters I use the red heels and # 8 sole. I also put the stick on Velcro on the heel and sole. I tried the grey sole and it was so slick I felt like I was doing the moon walk. I slide on my heel also. We have wood approaches.

fordman1 I'm 55 yrs old and weight 295 lbs. I don't like to stick either. You asked what soles came with the TPU-X's, Those are the soles and heels that come with the TPU-X shoes. So it's up to you to determine if any of those will work for you. We have synthetic approaches.

If you decide to get the TPU-X's, I'd suggest getting the Black/Red or the Limited Edition White/Black's. This guarantees you get the 2nd gen. shoes.

They have 2nd gen. Blue/Black one's, but a lot of place's still have the 1st gens. in stock and have not gone through the old inventory just yet.

So for now, order the Black/Red or White/Black if you want the revised TPU-X shoes.

I looked them up on Amazon and they didn't say Right or Left handed? They just said Performance PTU X black and red.

I think at the moment the Black/Red and the L.E. White only come in right handed, they are the newest version of the TPU-X's and just came out back in September.

The Black/Royal (Blue) come in both Left and Right handed though.

For more info on the TPU's and some other shoes see the Brunswick Shoe Catalog here:

The new Dexter 9's just came out last month and are supposed to fix the issues the SST 8 had. But they have only been out a for a little while, so there is not much info on wear or any new issues involving them.

I've seen some good talk about the Dexter Tanks.

I just got a new pair of shoes, the Brunswick TPU-X's (the new versions which they fixed some issues the first gens. had). They fit well, they were made/designed by Calloway and fit like a Golf or running shoe. Kind of contoured to the shape of a foot. A lot of cushioning, arch support is good. The standard slide soles/heels are taking a bit to break in though. But I've only had them a little while so have to see.
I have the SST8's as I stated and then the grip shoe split just like you said shortly after I posted these were good. I am not a big power player by any means. I have had them for a while but not long enough for that to happen. They have been fine other than that. I don't find them heavy and I think the width is good for stability. I also don't drag my toe so that isn't an issue for me either. I have the TPU X now.

Got the new TPU-X's They are much more comfortable. Softer and fit better. The slide sole #8 had to be changed wouldn't slide so used my old one. Heel was the same. All my soles have Teflon glued on to get the slide I need. I would tell anyone looking for comfort to but them. SST-8's were twice as heavy and felt like they were made of wood.

Please tell me more about the Teflon that is glued on.
