Default Almost 300 (not really but....)

    Back 7, Front 4, then a stone 9 pin

Ahh, so close. Not really, but hey I have to try to celebrate something.

That is one of the terms, vdub has another one. Varipapa 300 is a reference to the great Andy Varipapa who jokingly would count 12 strikes in a row anytime towards his 300 total.

Try celebrating the fact that you threw 20 strikes in 3 games. If you truly new to bowling that is impressive. I know many bowlers who average over 200 and don't normally throw 20 strikes in a series.

20 strikes out of a possible 36 strikes is pretty darn good especially if you
are really new to bowling. The most I've had in a row was 20 before a pulled
shot got me a 7 count and kept me from having back to back 300 games.

That night I had 300, 277, 211 I would have loved to had those back to back
300 games but that's how it goes sometimes.

Anyway great bowling NewToBowling keep it up.

Some days you are the dog, other days the hydrant. I was the dog the other night. Many nights I have been the hydrant.

I've done the 12 in a row but not in the same game a few times really just pisses me off at this point because I know I can do it in a game just haven't. Congrats an a pretty good set anyway

Wow that's still a high strike count. If your bowling like this on the regular then it's only a matter of time before every one falls into place for you.

Would 20 in a row mean you threw 9 consecutive Varipapa 300's?

    1 thru 12, 2 thru 13, 3 thru 14, etc.

Back in the 89-90 season I had a number of good nights, on one, my 2nd and 3rd games were 279, 289.

I don't remember where the 9 count was in the middle game.

I do know my first game was a stinky 170 something.

I had a night of 278, 268, 245, for a 791, to this day thats my high sanctioned series.

What sucks is the last game I went 3 bagger, 2-4-10 (only time I didn't hit flush) made the split, double, solid 8, solid 9, 4 bagger to close it out.

I knew the moment the 9 pin didn't fall, my shot at 800 was over.

    I had another one of 227, 245, 299 for 771.

I made a huge adjustment after the 5th frame of the 1st game.

    I had 77 in the 5th.

I figure if I'd of had 110+ in the 5th frame instead, and finished like I did, I would have reached 800, but then again, if I had 110+ in the 5th, I wouldn't have made the huge adjustment.

    And finally, I had a night of 160 something, 300, 210 something.

The interesting things was among all the leagues in that center for the season, only two 300 games were shot.

It was a 60 lane center that had a full house both 6 and 9 o'clock on week nights, dunno about weekends.

That was back before THS, and resin, when they would come out and inspect the lanes, pins, oil, and the ball before recognizing the honor scores.

It was even before automatic scoring was in the area.
