Default Arsenal sure expanded this month!

I won the Hellraiser Revenge earlier this spring from the boards, got two balls from giveaway summer leagues I was in (Slingshot and a Damage), then a buddy gave me a Storm Rapid Fire that was like new. I had been throwing older stuff so all this was great for my game.

Was feeling pretty set up then I saw a local Craigslist ad for a huge lot of bowling balls for $5 each. Didn't think it was going to be anything but old house balls...which is fine I have a bowling ball mortar so those are handy for ammo. I call him and he's totally clueless about what he has. Got some stuff out of a lane in Kentucky that was going under, which it turns out included the pro-shop's used inventory and NOS stuff.

I bought both balls he had in 15lbs that I prefer. I got an in-the-box Ebonite NitroR2, an in-the-box Ebonite Stinger, a couple new undrilled Yellow Dots and a half dozen 8lb polyester balls for shooting out of the mortar.

    All for $50!!

Got the Nitro and the Stinger drilled and took them to league Saturday and they're both superb for older balls. The purple Nitro hooks like mad, could barely keep it on the lanes and the Stinger is a good medium oil ball, on my last game switched over to it and strung 9 strikes. I'm not sure their vintage, probably 10 years at least, but they both still work and hit as hard as my modern stuff. Pretty happy with that deal.

I'll get some video up when it gets warm enough to put the mortar back in use.

Sure thing, we usually have a big gathering in early summer at my place (I have a shooting range, and a big field next door where we set the mortar off). With the cost of ammo right now, the shooting might be second fiddle to sending some Brunswicks into low orbit tho!

My new ball is 13lb. I am currently looking for a 13 or 12lb plastic ball now. But come to think of it my 10 pin conversion percentage went UP since I got the new ball.

Check craigslist and even local thrift shops (goodwill, salvation army, savers, ect) I see plastic balls all the time at thrift shops and they are always like $2-$3 a ball. I was tempted to buy a storm frantic from goodwill for $2.99 but it was way to light for me.
